Went big for him on a permanent too according to Quinn, £12m rings a bell which was crazy money especially for a defender back then. Shame like, can see why Ferguson wasn’t going to let him go but never feel like they really ever made him the man for them at centre half.
Seen a few earlier posts with tweets reg Jobe that have now been deleted- can anyone enlighten me please?
Wasn't exactly won, the Saudis gave DAZN the money to get the rights. In return they got the World Cup. Nobody else wanted it haha
Amazing how many people didn’t want him back when he went to Saudi. There was a lot of virtue signalling going on but as soon as it’s something that they feel could benefit Sunderland their morals go out the window. No different to Newcastle supporters dropping their morals and accepting the Saudis as soon as it benefitted them.
Personally didn’t really care when he went to Saudi and that mistake hasn’t changed my view as to whether to sign him or not. The reason I’m against it is that I just don’t think he’s good enough any more. But it looks like it’s going to happen so I hope he proves me wrong; which I often am
My concern with Henderson is if he starts most week, I'm fine with him as a squad player only as he will be great in the dressing room and great as an impact sub when needing some experience t9 settle things down My issue is him starting though, his legs have totally gone imo - watched him get bypassed in a slow Dutch league and that will be 10× worse in the PL Yes folk are concerned about the Saudi connection, I do feel some will be more angry simply due to Newcastle connection to them. I wasn't impressed when he went there, he realised he messed up and that's why he moved on after a few months
Dressing room signing I think it makes sense, he can’t be starting week in week out for me, imagine he would bring everyone’s level up in training etc so if it’s cheap it makes sense agree the anger around the Saudi move is mainly the mag connection if he did it 5 year ago no one would have batted an eyelid, didn’t even get paid when he was there did he?
Who thought this time a year ago we’d be discussing if a current England international was good enough for us though? Absolutely brilliant
Nothing to do with the Newcastle connection. It’s mainly because of the support he apparently had for the gay community and then **** on them from a great height by going to play in a country that would quite happily end their lives just for being them.
I agree some will be hating him because of that but 100% there is folk hating him because of the connection with Newcastle
