another who is very good and a level above what we have when fit….cant imagine we’d match his wage demands mind although if going back to Brazil is an option they don’t pay massive wages id imagine (does have attraction of being home)

could see him at the mags as one of two replacements they get with the isak money

depends if he wants to go there,

mags are finding it hard to attract players,

As ambitious as we have been with our signings I cant see us being able to get anywhere near the wages required for Jesus could see him going to the mags tho

The Openda to Villa is an interesting link really rate him and he has a similar style of play to Watkins

Le Bris highlights statement of intent with Xhaka signing

Régis Le Bris underlined the statement of intent from Sunderland following the arrival of the Granit Xhaka with the head coach relaying how the Swiss’ high standards will give everyone confidence for the upcoming Premier League campaign....

“I have to congratulate the people behind the scenes for completing the move. It makes a big noise and that is something we are looking to do this season.

“For the squad, it’s really important. We started our recruitment with talented young players but the second layer is to balance the squad with more experience. With what he has achieved in the game, Granit is really good for that.”

Amongst Xhaka’s outstanding skillset, the Swiss boasts a record of 225 Premier League appearances with the Gunners and 137 caps for his country, standing alone as his nation’s all-time appearance maker.

An iconic figure in the Premier League for seven years during his time in North London, Xhaka’s combative style of play combined with his composure on the ball and eye for a pass is a major addition on the pitch for the Head Coach.

Le Bris continued: “It’s really clear what he will bring to the squad. At the same time, his level his high. He brings many things for the balance of the squad. He’s a captain, a leader, has strong experience in the Premier League and the national team. This piece in our structure will be really important to balance the squad. We’re really happy.

“He’s still at top with a specific style of play so it’s really important to feel these pillars in our structure because it gives confidence to everyone for the Premier League.”

Sunderland’s seventh signing of the summer will link up with his new teammates later this week at the Academy of Light. Xhaka will wear the number 34 for the forthcoming Premier League campaign.
