we might have to reel it back slightly on the type of player at some point I think if we keep getting rejected. I don't think that is the case though as it seems to be us getting a bid rejected more than anything for Lucumi but it's a valid thought to have
I don’t think we’ve been rejected at all yet for lucumi

Need one of those out of nowhere here we go's so I can spend 15 mins researching the player that's coming <laugh>

Yeah I do think there's a balance between being ambitious in your hunt and missing out on more attainable players because you've been pursuing better but out of reach ones.

We're still early enough in the window that I'd rather we were aiming high like we are. But at some point we have to start making some compromises I guess.

We've had a bid rejected by the sounds but I wouldn't fault the player for wanting europe if that came out, have you seen the clubs that were interested

Yep, very valid imo

Ironically Striker is the position I’m least worried about this window, really think between Mayenda and Isidor we’ve got 2 very good complimentary profiles who do different things and are lethal on the break.

Also really like the look of Abdullahi and think he’s definitely got a future at the club.

We really need CBs thou Ballard, Seelt, Triantis and 09 are just not it
How do you know they are not good enough? 09 proves people wrong every season, Ballard will make the step up, haven't seen enough of the other 2 to judge

I think people forget RLB didn't have Ballard in his team majority of the season, he only came back in, in the playoffs because Mepham was dipping in form. I love him but we defo do need 2 more CB's. O9 whether he proves people wrong or not can't be relied on, and shouldn't be relied on. Let him compete and get his spot

Apart from one,the players we've nailed down so far have been young, talented and ambitious to prove themselves in the PL....mostly in the c.£20m marketplace.
In my mind,it's not logical we would choose to pursue higher value players who are looking for CL football......that's journo speculation and no more in my view.
If how we've operated in the very recent past is anything to go by,I would expect a couple more additions......maybe 3......who have not previously appeared on our radar.

Fair enough, suppose we'll never know for sure but I don't really see why that's so hard to believe
People running our club aren’t stupid. Bournemouths offer was nearly at €20 million. His release clause was €28 do you really think the club will turn up and seriously low ball. No where near suggests we’re miles off

Just watched a youtube video that popped up on my feed of Tommy Watson's interview at Brighton's training camp yesterday. Made me so ****ing angry. Says he went to Brighton and was blown away by the training ground, wanted to go there because they're the only club around who develop young talent ffs. He LITERALLY spent the first minute talking about him scoring in the championship playoff final as an 18 year old and THEN said Brighton are the only club that give a platform to young talent. Grrrrr

Again though, you're going off your own opinion, we can't just discredit a report because we don't like what it said

I don't see why it's impossible for a first bid, they had a lot of power in terms of dealing with Lucumi as they can say we won't sell unless the release clause is triggered.

Now that's gone they lose some of the power and he can push for a move below that clause - who knows if our bid (if it existed) was lower initially but with a lot of incentives. Got to test the water

He would not have been given free rein to say what he wanted. Brightons media team will have told him what to say.
