Honestly I’m completely relaxed about this. We needed two centre backs anyway. I don’t think this changes anything. I wasn't expecting Hjelde, Alese or O’Nien to play the first 3 games anyway.
Im expecting Cirkin to be 2nd choice LB now anyway, same goes with Alese as a CB. How much longer do we persevere with their injuries though? Its getting ridiculous now.. So without a pre-season neither will be available now till Sept? They are both getting paid alot of money with very little in return.
I think we might need another left back mind. Cirkin hasn’t signed a new deal, is injured all of pre season and the first 3 games. Can we really expect him to be pushing Reinildo with zero pre season behind him as well as a step up?
I thought onien had got away with surgery when I saw him come back for preseason and I thought alese was already back so does put a bit more pressure on getting 2 quicker than 1. But aye as you say, you wouldn’t have expected any of them to start against West Ham even if fit.
Don't think we can be signing a new left back just because Cirkin is missing the first 3 games. He either needs to be sold (unlikely whilst injured) or we persist for those 3 games with Reinildo left and Hume right with Huggins hopefully backing up both. In an ideal world we'll sign another player who can play full back both sides (Kyle Walker-Peters I'm looking at you)
no we don't - there's 23 names on that sheet and 4 injured. only 1 blank to fill. And we'll be bringing in at least one centre back and a striker before we start anyway, if reports are to be believed.
I think we just need to assume now that Cirkin and Alese will barely be available and if they are its a bonus, so get rid asap and get some proper replacements in that arent made from Wheatabix
So what do we do once Cirkin's fit? Give him 0 minutes? Signing a new left back because he's missing pre-season and 3 games is just over the top. Now - if we want to sign a versatile full back to cover both sides, I can agree with that. But bringing in a new left back is OTT
FWIW Cirkin's injury is his wrist. He'll be doing cardio and all fitness work. Just no impact and no ****ing with that hand.
Our new LB is a level above Cirkin so Cirkin needs to get his finger out and show his worth. We're different level now and he needs to grow mentally stronger and get over these injury issues. 90 mins on a Tues night for the U23s and a seat on the bench for the first team on a Sat will do him the world of good. Or ideally cash in on him.
