It's mental gymnastics... If nufc had signed raphina etc you'd be loving it, but because it's Chelsea you've somehow convinced yourself they've paid 60 million for Jacob Murphy

I just think there's a difference playing for the current Newcastle lot (like Villa, or Leeds, or Wolves) and a top 4 side. There is a strictness about it, a cold professionalism that not everyone responds to. He's no longer idolised, he's just another winger at Chelsea, some players just don't respond to it.

I think at Newcastle, where he would be a main man duo with ASM, he'd enjoy himself more and players like him - I think - work better being free. Not saying he'd only thrive at Newcastle, that would be myopic, but if he'd gone to, say, Villa I'd be thinking "****, they really are getting serious". And I'm not singling out Chelsea, but for me he's probably going to have a Grealish season.

It happens a lot - Grealish hardly stood out, Sancho was poor, Werner and Lukaku both struggled, Ziyech, Ferran Torres, Bergwijn, etc.

They have so many players in that kind of position that currently don’t perform.

Surely Chelsea must be releasing some players to accommodate him.
