Hugely underwhelmed with that, and a mistake as well in my opinion. Dubravka was never the problem, creating goals was. Ekitike is not a solution to that problem. Botman seems like a good player, but again conceding wasn't the problem, creating goals was. What we need more than anything is two things - a reliable first choice striker and a creative influence either from CM or from RW.

I would say I think when I saw PIF involved I thought it would be much more aggressive and bold, but that's just not possible these days.

If this takeover happened before the big 6 had put FFP in replace they could've just bulldozed their way to the top.

I will confess i do expect 1 or 2 more exciting players to come in, but I get the impression that Howe isn't interested and prefers prem proven players.

Perhaps he's right at this stage, but I suspect he'll get one or two chucked at him.

Don't think Ekitike would effect that one way or other mate. Really don't think they were signing him to play up front in the striker role, suspect they seen him more as a winger initially.

All it means is we don't sign the better player on the list and move down the list.

This isn't good news the boy can play.

That's if this news is even true BTW.

I find it hard to believe that story. So the club want their money(big amount) the player wants to go, but the agent asks for more and they all say OK forget it?

I'm not convinced.

It's either bullshit or the player isn't keen.

......and if the next one on the list is Gabriel Barbossa then give me him over Ekitike very single day of the week.

I'm actually wrong, I thought Greame Baily was Sky Sports. As we were <laugh>

This post will be edited in 5 mins to ensure my Mrs doesn't get actual evidence of me admitting I'm wrong <laugh>

Reactions: Munson.
He flopped in Italy and that concerns me.

Ekitike has a gift

If that gift is pace then yes he does, Only 2 of his 11 goals he scored came against anyone of any note, those being Marseille and Lyon. The rest were against teams like Angers, Nantes (2), Strasbourg, Bastia, Bordeaux (2), Stade Rennais. Hardly ****ing ground breaking. Adam Armstrong scored far more against teams of similar stature in the championship and look how **** he's turned out.

The story doesn't make sense.

It does to a degree. So personal terms agreed with player, deal agreed with cub, Agent demanding excessively high fee and not getting it so refuses to complete deal whilst touting the kids arse to every club in Europe. Most of whom think he is way over priced at what we have allegedly agreed. Still not completing so the club walk away. If the kid wants move he now has to either punt agent or demand agent starts acting more realistically. By all accounts its an inexperienced agent that has seen $$$$$ signs.

Nah he's got lethal close ball control and his brain works fast aswel as his feet. He's also got a back of being in the place to score a goal.

He's got almost 1 in 2 plus assists playing for reims.

I could be wrong, but this story makes no sense at all... If the deals off it could be Newcastle have had encouragement elsewhere for example.

The club and player would tell the ****er straight up mate. There's no way that's the real reason.. If someone wants 30 million and a player has agreed to go it would be done. The agent would yield.

There's more to it... Maybe the player just really doesn't want to go.

I'm calling bullshit at this stage

See this is where you and me differ. I think he has excellent pace, I think he drops the shoulder very well and at times I think he has decent skills on the ball, He's done well with his goal stats so far - I wont deny it but I'd say his first touch is ****ing shocking, as is his composure, his passing, his decision making, his crossing and his actual shooting technique.

He looks very very much like Sammy Ameobi did.
