Not really as they keep baulking at paying the extra few million to get their man. Now we are down to plan G on the list and other clubs know we are desperate and putting their prices up accordingly. We look really amateurish. Also, it’s not about getting players in -it’s about getting the main players in and not out 12th choice right winger
And not letting players get snapped up by other clubs for decent prices like Aouar for 15 million or Kamara for free at the beggining of the window.
I'll start panicking if Eddie and the board start talking about that pesky ****ing "line" again! Past that I'm happy with the progress made in the last 8 months so far - not over the moon "we're going to win the title" happy, but happy enough. Problem with people now is they want everything yesterday and not looking at the big picture. England GK - Check England RB - Check New EPL experienced CB - Check New potential world class young CB - Check New upgrade on LB - Check New Brazilian international CM - Check New back up CF to Wilson who's better than Gayle - Check £150m spent with **** all made back in player sales - CHECK! We've bought in 6 first team players to improve the squad in 2 windows with probably a few more in the next week or two. 2 more first team players through the door and I'll be clamoring for European push but we are on target for what should be expected this season - top half with a season of no danger of relegation - Check (so far). Next year is the assault on the European places and DISCLAIMER even if we miss out but are pushing for it it'll be one hell of a turn around in 18 months and steps in the right direction.
This. Spot on. Would jussssst be nice to get that extra striker and/or RW in this window. But so far, great progress.
For all the amateur comments - Remember January, when we were being labelled as amateur? Signed Trippier and Bruno, and laid the foundations for Botman. When the window closes, let's see how amateur we are, but please don't think we can just spunk millions without relying on some loans. What's holding things up - other clubs (i.e. Chelsea / Benfica) need to do business / play knockout fixtures in order for targets to move. It's not rocket science.
You think underbidding for an England international who regularly gets 15+ g/a in the PL year bidding almost as much on an unproven youngster from a different country is not amateurish? Jumping from one player to another, seemingly without thought, again appears amateurish. Now looking back at players we tried for earlier in the window again looks amateurish.
If they thought he was worth 50m (inc add ons) and won't go above it, that's their prerogative (I personally think he's worth more, but that's inconsequential). They know / knew Leicester have to sell some assets - why not have a go? We have to work within certain limits for now. He could be best part lined up for Jan or next summer now... I think it's amateurish to believe that the Ekitike deal was structured in the same way as the Maddison offer, and that it came close to the same realistic total value - but, it would fit your narrative. If the club thought that the Ekitike deal was worth it, I'm on board (he's now at PSG, albeit warming the bench, as expected). If the club can't go above a certain amount for players in this window, I'm on board.
I’m glad you’re on board. I’m on board. Just because they are significantly better than MA doesn’t mean that they cannot be criticised. We’ve known for a long time that out attack is weak. I’ve had to listen to numerous posters complaining non stop about the ones we’ve got with zero support. But their approach to bidding for the attacking players is shoddy. Just my opinion.
But your opinion on the Club's approach to bidding is based not on facts but media reports. Also we still have two weeks left in the transfer window. If there is a time to complain it's when the window has closed and not before.
Yes and? I’ve decided I’m going to complain now as I’ll be too busy when the window closes to complain
