I purely meant for 21/22 season.

And....no.

You can't put us finishing down strongly solely to Bruno, our run started on Boxing day with we drew win Man U, and from the next 8 games we won 5 and drew 3, going from 10 points to 28 and from 19th place to 14th. Bruno made occasional injury time appearances in these games and had nothing to do with the results.

This run (which Wood was key to), gave us momentum to finish the season strongly when Bruno came in.

Almost feels like you should go and knock one out over Wood.

"which Wood was key to"?!?! I'll have whatever he's smoking.

Ok so we have got a credit facility with HSBC signed off in exchange for all 22/23 TV rights money up front. That means the three payments the PL usually make - September, February and June - can now be treated as 'in the bank' already which effectively gives us £150m+ to spend, effective immediately.

Now given this kind of money and loan facility is effectively what Forest have used to bankroll a load of players, could this be why we haven't done more in the market so far? Is this the catalyst to finally see some movement in critical positions?

There's nothing the PL can do about that. I'm with @Geordieginola on this - I think the PL have made it very ****ing difficult all Summer for us to get deals over the line and so we've looked at another way of doing it and there's **** ALL THEY CAN DO ABOUT A CREDIT FACILITY! Petty ****ing ****ers. Christ, I hate the PL. Going to destroy my love for football one day, I'm convinced of it.
Yes I thought something was off and I thought it had to be the two had been turned off by PIF which is fine because they can’t just keep chucking money at it.

The club look like we have facilitated a way of releasing the money early which we tie the commercial deals up with the PL which quite frankly is again restrictions to trade.

But this makes sense.

Whether you like it or not Wood played a role in games that started us off on the run. Putting it solely down to Bruno is factually incorrect, he only started in games towards the end of the season.

It's a very clever move and, as you say, it nullifies the PL presence. They have most definitely been interfering in our dealings and made it difficult. This might move things along and we will see some proper action.

Darren Eales will hopefully kick ass by January so any further investment can be done then/summer. Now the good times will come!
It will be interesting who our shirt sponsor will be next season. I fully expect it to be upwards of 40m a season.

Liverpool have just signed a 95m a season deal with standard chartered. So this has raised the bar even higher.

I can’t justify a similar level of deal but half or 2/3 would be bona fide because to be able to compete and to not break rules the PL can’t block it.

I think we've wasted a lot of the Summer believing this squad would replicate its' top-3 form into this new season. Spent forever chasing a £30m prospect who went to PSG, which tells me the management team at Newcastle didn't feel there was a pressing need to add a first team player. Really worrying, when you think about.

Reality has hit during these friendlies whereby our lack of quality past (maybe even IN) the first XI isn't good enough. I think it's all going to hit home quickly that they're not good enough. We already know the likes of Ritchie, Murphy, Wood and Mongstaff should be nowhere near the team, but.....

Almiron - 3 seasons of not hitting a cows arse with a banjo (2 goals, 0 assists), then he has a decent pre-season and suddenly he's the answer?
Shelvey - plays 1 decent game in 6, inconsistent, Hollywood passer. Loses a few pounds and he's now a midfield dynamo?
Burn - utility defender that couldn't start for Brighton, has a few committed matches and all of a sudden he's solved the defensive issues?
Wilson - injured for 50% of the last 2 or 3 seasons, all of a sudden he's our best possible option at CF and going to bag 20?
Lascelles - whose absence from the first team has always coincided with better results re-named captain and now our first choice CB?

ASM, Targett and Longstaff have all been quite poor in pre-season as well. My optimism for the coming season has been drained this Summer, which is all the more disappointing given the optimism we were all supposed to be feeling.

I agree, but I still believe that Newcastle will bring in one or two very good players by Sept 2nd

We have borrowed up all our income from the PL for this season. Instantly releasing around 120m of cash.

The stumbling block is the coffers are dry because the PL have blocked our deals. So now we can spend and they can’t stop it.

Who's worked this out and what the hell do you mean?

I reckon it's Noon.com mate. I reckon they were lined up to do it this year and visit Botswana was the sleeve sponsor until we couldn't kick Fun88 out and then they opted to go Noon.com as sleeve sponsor.

We have borrowed against this years TV money and ticket money in advance from HSBC. Same thing a number of clubs have done like Forrest, Everton, West Ham etc.

Allows us to go smash the granny out the rest of the window without ****ing PL rules or FFP using clubs own money without diluting shares.
