I have a feeling we will find it tougher next year, but think Villa will be the next to crash the top 4.

Aston Villa have got Newcastles number too! They destroyed Newcastle because they were the only club to play through Newcastle's press and the pace they have in fwd areas did the rest..... Diaby Watkins and Bailey...that's a serious front 3.

Newcastles is also good but pace at the back needs addressing.

I assume that was not.when we hammered them.at st James park

Penfold mate you shouldn't need that I mean the clubs not been grown much in terms of revenue and it's spent around 300 million in 18 months with very little in players sales.

The club and the manager have been very open you and told us all they're now going to have to box clever and sell players to bring players in.

This isn't rocket science mate if you don't have much money expendable to you that means you're skint ... would you prefer just saying the club can't spend on the players it wants without selling players ?
No. You need to admit that you are the first poster on here ever to have been outsmarted by @I am Groot. We are hampered by FFP, we can spend as much money as we want on building new training grounds, new stadia and developing youth players - we just can't buy new players without selling.

While price for St Maximin appears low at 25Million Euros, if we want to take a bit of a forward risk (and assume we can get our revenue up in future years), and his initial purchase price has been fully amortised, it would mean that we would have 125MillionEuros to spend on player/players given 5-year contracts to cover purchase price and salary costs.

51m

anyone looking at their FFP stats?
Yeah I looked the other week, I’ll provide an update of sorts later. A lot of their previous activity came off the back of selling an academy player for £100m, but they’re living off a lot of cash injections from the owners as well as this to support stuff as the revenue side isn’t up there with the “big 6”.

One thing I’m not clear on is exactly how much cash is allowed to be injected by owners and what the limits are. Everton and Villa had the highest.

I think Howe will have taken a lot from that game. Clearly his preparation of the team is fantastic and has taken this side to a completely different level but occasionally you come up against an opponent like Emery who is super streetwise. Going into Champs league next year will ask us a lot of different questions. Be really interesting to see how we get on.

So I was right we have to sell to buy.

I suppose newcastle might have just had a bad day

Or you were wrong as you said we were skint. We don’t necessarily have to sell to buy. We could allow a Stadium naming rights deal with that new Saudi company St James Ltd for an extra 20million a year. Not sure whether fans would agree with renaming it St James Park.

We did but I think that was the only occasion I saw Eddie get out coached last year. Other losses we may have just got undone by some extra quality or maybe some individual off days but that was the only game I watcher where I thought we've been properly out done here tactically.

Agreed but you know one thing is for sure, he will be doing everything possible to learn from it and put it right for next time.

Unlike a certain former manager.

It's the transfer window thread not the infrastructure thread and if we have to sell to buy then we're skint.

Exactly because Emery is a top top manager and they've got good players. Much like Newcastle they had crap managers but they've got it right now and have brought more quality in.

It's a 50/50 for me but I guess that's fair.

Reactions: Seabass and Obi Wan
I love Munson posting **** to help sooth his own anxiety, being proven wrong for saying dumb **** and then getting pissy about it.

When others reply to his pissy responses, he says "keep it light," showing he's getting offended and then tells other people they're the ones getting triggered.

What an odd little read back.
