I've got their financial report, and while they've done well with Grealish, aside, it's not as rosy as all that. I'll have a read back through it tomorrow when I'm travelling.
All correct about the takeover there being earlier and off the field progression being ahead of us, but it's nothing massive. Our main problem right now is getting rid of the dead wood. Historically they have won more trophies, but to suggest that players in this generation (players younger than the vast majority of us here), when considering a transfer will view them as bigger than Newcastle, is nonsense.

We have increased some commercial revenue. But I reckon the PL are blocking some deals.
FFP is a mechanism to restrict teams growing and maintain the status quo.
Villa don’t seem to be impacted by FFP.

I can’t fathom how Tonali can be our budget when Chelsea’s rationale on FFP was spreading cost of deals via amortisation.
We have guaranteed income well in excsss of what we had when spending on Botman, Bruno and Isak. It doesn’t add up at all.
Exactly so Tonali will have cost about £15-20m based on amortisation so we have £60m ish left

I read that because of Ashley we could spend around 300m.
