We won’t get Maddison. We will get James Ward-prowse.

I have a feeling mount is the most likely ... he's out of form and at one time looked a top prospect.
This means his stock has fallen so bigger clubs will have lost interest and a coach that believes in himself would be quite keen.

I expect nufc fans would complain but I wouldn't because he's got potential and he's a level up on players we'd have been interested not long ago.

It's nothing new because newcastle fans complain about everything .. many have complained about everything from appointing howe , signing Burn, not wasting money and not winning the league cup already.

Based on the last couple of years at a club where things aren't right.

If the scouts are interested it's based on his career and ability.

I'd see no issue as he could potentially return to form.

    See Joelinton for details.

No he's just dog ****! TBF if he was here I'd support him but I despise him at present when ever he plays for England - I can't believe the kids gets games for England ahead of Rashford, Sancho, Grealish, Foden, Saka, Smith-Rowe, Maddison, even Conor Gallagher.

    I'd love Smith rowe like

I don't think mount is a bad player I think he's in a bad place ... I can dig out the same views on joelinton who according to our fans couldn't kick a ball not long ago.

I'm not saying I'd be over the moon with mount but I'd be fine to trust the scouts who've done an outstanding job so far.

Ok, I'll try and be more moderate with posts. I don't rate Mount. Unlike Joelinton, who was in the wrong position, Mount's one of those breed of England players who is comfortable in a number of areas, but not particularly decent in a specific role, product of the Ashworth model. I don't think he's any better than Willock.

I'm a relentless arsehole Roly mate , but I agree on this based on recent form.

Mount could just be the next delli Alli, but there's a chance he could come good also.

I suppose this is the reverse of the isak debate funnily enough.

Willock is amazing! Think a midfield 3 of him Bellingham and Rice would be outrageously good for England.

I think willocks been very good this season but never seems to get any credit. If Willock is ever going to get an England cap he's going to have have to get 10 goals from midfield every season

    Well that's fair enough mate

Smith rowe would be a better buy than mount.

I'd like Maddison ideally but JWP is a really good player. He's not just a free kick merchant.

Newcastle need to stay away from weaklings mind .... players have to be physically capable 1st and foremost.

According to a recent article in The Athletic we're aiming to sign at least five new players in the summer, with an emphasis on size, speed and athleticism as well as technical excellence.

Goes on to suggest that Maddison is the number one target for the window, to add much needed goal threat. Then suggests we're looking at strengthening each of these positions and names our most likely targets:

LB - Tierney, Lodi and Antonee Robinson.
CM - Tielemans (though it suggests we may have lost interest now), Alex Scott, Conor Gallagher.
DM - Caicedo, Edson Alvarez, McTominay, Joao Palhinha, Amadou Onana, Ruben Neves.
Adaptable forwards (not after strikers apparently) - Nico Williams, Joao Pedro, Brennan Johnson.

Keeping an eye on, but likely out of reach - Diaby, Rafinha, Kvaratskhelia.
