It’s a really tough call. We can’t ‘pay him what he wants’ and when one gets a superstar bonus it all starts to kick off and people start knocking on doors so there’s a balance. My gut feeling is that the best we will get is a decent boost for him with big promotion bonus and a promise of a big hike on promotion and a clause if we don’t go up. Meaning we’ll only get a year out of him unless we go up or his form dips but hopefully we make enough to keep the conveyor belt going.

Aye. Mind, I think there is more to gain from accommodating on of our best players, than there would have been in doing likewise for a manager who might have seen himself as a bit better than us.
Our "Model" is clearly based on a strict financial limit when it comes to salary. If we continue with this policy, we will continue to lose our talent, We have lost the Manager, and I would bet some of our first team squad will be in the crosshairs of our competitors in this division. Its a tough call wether we stick with this policy or look to make some exceptions ....Personally I would go all out to keep Stewart, players who scores with the regularity he does are hard to find, if we lose him, surely NOT to the likes of Blackburn

Totally get what you’re saying, it’s tough and not for some but the argument against what you’re suggesting is that we then fail to have cumulative financial improvement and end up back on **** street.
This is part of the strategy though. As we become more profitable, our strict financial ceiling gets higher so we can attract better players.
What you're suggesting is that we spend more than we earn to keep the players we have - if they're only good enough for upper mid-table, then what do we do? Keep losing money? Gamble more on bringing in better players that we can't afford?
I think Stewart should be the highest paid player at the club and I think they will make that so when he is offered a new contract. If that is upping his wages to something like £20k a week, then it's a sensible risk. If going "all out" means giving in to £40k a week demands, then we're on a slippery slope.
Other players will have clauses in their contracts to be within the top 5 earners or within a certain % of the top earner. Giving Rossco a (deserved) pay rise and longer contract would cost more than just his contract. The club need to weigh it all up and see what's best.
Either way, the model we are operating now means we shouldn't get too attached to these players if a huge offer comes in for them.
How long is left on Stewarts contract? Saw mention of a 1 year extension that the club could call in somewhere along the line.

22 months if the club activate their 12month option. Which they obviously will.
Perhaps a good increase in salary plus a lucrative goals = £s , as well as other position in league , play off bonus , automatic promotion bonus , promotion via play offs bonus , making him a highly incentivised player who is quite capable of achieving his targets whilst contributing towards making us a more successful club .
