This is exactly how a 2 should work. Man U play 2 break up players in fred and mctominay, but in him can play a footballer with him because he is so good. People in our fan base who want 2 break up players, and Dan Neil gone, are wrong in my opinion. The 4231 is built around a deep lying playmaker, and a destructive type, never 2 destructive types. Casemiro means both fred and mctominay can be benched - massive shift in how they play.

I think it just depends on who you have in the midfield tbh. If they’re good enough they can be both the playmaker, not get caught out too often but when they do they have the legs and defensive ability to stop the attack.
Think united still need someone else alongside him. Eriksen is better as a no10. 2 destructive players can work depending on fullbacks and the attacking 4 in front of them
I don't think he's as good as Rodri, but it's a squad game and he's more than good enough to get regular games for them.
He could play alongside Rodri and KDB. Gundogan won’t be there for much longer I’d imagine nor will Bernardo
