gonna put it out there as purely a wikipedia scouting mission - Loïc Mbe Soh from Nottingham Forest.

right sided center back. 21. hasn't played much for their first team having joined from PSG and will be looking for game time.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loïc_Mbe_Soh

was once a "FIFA Golden Boy" nominee

https://www.nottinghamforest.news/2...-talent-to-nottingham-forest-during-2-2-draw/

He’s been poor so far. Was eager to see how well he’d do at Forest as when I was a keen FM player I used to always scout the Ligue 1 reserve/u19 squads for future stars, mostly Monaco and PSG.<doh> He was a player I brought in who had massive potential on there but has flopped a bit, he’s barely played any football.

I would look at it a different way, because Matete and ONien dont seem to be in the first 11. If it James Garner instead of Dan Neil I would say no to that personally. I am not saying Dan Neil is a better player at this stage in their respective careers but to us as a club he is so much more valuable. We have invested so much into his development already, he is getting international recognition and is scouted by prem clubs. He is also a poster boy for out pathway, which goes a long way to helping the club attract the best youngsters to its academy. I would rather see Neil playing, and learning and becoming the player I think he can be, than have him benched in favour of somebody else who maybe a year ahead in their development. If a prem club want to loan us an u23 lad, who is an upgrade on a squad player like ONien, but with no demands on game time, then I would go for that.

All about opinions mate. I do a lot of coaching and I see a lot of challenges around pathways when lads get to 18, 19 and 20.

Good post mate...

As a retired coach, I wonder if some modern day coaches still use the tried and well tested theory within the mindset of getting the best out of a player, which was simply to ask the player outright what position do you enjoy playing in most, as well as utilising already recognised strengths to play in needed formations etc.

I have a lot of time for Gooch because he plays everywhere he's asked to, and he gives 100%....However, I wonder what postion he would prefer to play?

Supger KP played as a fullback in his earlier days, but loved to play up top in training....and the rest is sweet history.

Yes players are required to to adapt to other roles and are successful to anextent, but it's clear that sometimes we are putting square pegs in round holes at the start of matches, and we are falling short many times right now.

CM moved to a WB shouldn't be too much of a role change if a player is coached for weeks in that position, however, I just think that if you talk to your squad and ask them where they would prefer to play, and them try them in reserve matches.

I suppose the reason why I'm saying this, is because you can quickly see the body language of a player (with talent) struggling and before the end of the match, who is then replaced by the correct square peg.

I always say this - I rember a past coach telling me that nobody could take the ball of Cattermole in five-a-side....nobody!

His close control was outstanding. Yet he was never utilised in an attacking role....as a no 10 or even a winger, even in the reserves.

Just a thought mind...

Even Quinny played in goal......Mart Poom could play at CB and CF as a kid.

Must have missed this. Michael Walker from the athletic has sneaked into this tweet that Bennette's club have said he is joining Sunderland

Some bloke on twitter claiming Danny Drinkwater is in the north east today. A very troubled character which is well documented. Played the back end of the season at Reading and was supposedly very good once he got fit. Couldn't agree on wages allegedly to go back there.

It would be a signing definitely in the Evans/Pritchard mould which comes with risk but also an opportunity for a player to come to a club and play at a decent level and find his feet again.

The bloke could also be talking absolute ****e and I'll have wasted my time typing this :emoticon-0102-bigsm

They have:

Herediano's coach, Hernán Medford, attended Columbia. This medium consulted him about the signing of Bennette with Sunderland.

"The boy deserves it, he has done things well," the Florentine team's technical director told Radio Columbia 98.7 FM.

"It's a very important step for him," Medford acknowledged.

“He has been talked about a lot; he has been given advice”, highlighted the technical manager of Herediano to Columbia.

"It's a very competitive league, but Jewison has the ability," Medford defended.

my initial reaction was "yuck" but as you say, many wrote off Pritchard and Evans as well.

Could end up being either a master stroke or a disaster.

or not true at all as you say.

I can only imagine we / he are planning for him to be a first team squad member. otherwise he's risking his World Cup place. which might not be a priority for him, but you'd think he'd be wanting to at least be loaned back to his club until January for the sake of a few extra months.

Must be - I got told yesterday no loan back, after initially being told he might go back on loan. Imagine it all depends on the WP
