I was relaxed, but getting less so as days go by.

As well as strikers and midfielders if Ballard's injury is serious.... may another CB.
We seemed to be after a CB anyway prior to Ballard injury. With O’Nien able to fill in it’s not panic stations but if we intend to regularly play a three we will need another CB imo. serious competition for Evans and a third competitive CF and things would look okay. Fullback cover as well and I don’t think we could ask for much more.
probably Winchester out permanently, Matete, Diamond and possibly Hume out on loan along with a youngster or two.

Unfortunately the price to us in terms of fees and wages for anyone we were already in for/negotiating with will have gone up the second Ballard hobbled off. Always better to recruit from a position of strength.

I'm still relaxed as **** about transfers like

deals fall through for all sorts of reasons. if we'd signed that Gallacher lad from Liverpool we wouldn't have got Cirkin.

And likely if we'd got Broadhead early we wouldn't have got Simms.

I'm happy to let the recruitment team do what they need to do.

I have however gone from thinking we need 2 or 3 more and maybe 1 or 2 out, to thinking we need 4 or 5 more with 3 or 4 out.
I have faith in our recruitment team no doubt. Maybe less so in our budget quality wise, but at this stage every player we miss, every injury we get we add pressure and that probably adds expense and possibly reduces quality.

I agree but I’m still of the belief that a more experienced keeper may help. Patterson is a good but inexperienced keeper and inexperience affects critical judgment.

we still have tonnes of scope for loans from the Prem and I think that might be a way forward for this season to help consolidate. Then hopefully we will know by Feb / March for certain we will be in this division next season and can start identifying and recruiting for next year early.

I wouldn’t be averse to an experienced keeper or even a first choice big signing like Iversen but that would be a final piece of the jigsaw for this window rather than a priority for me.

I agree. Said at the time the challenge was a shocker, just because his studs weren’t right up it was overlooked - the ref didn’t even give a free kick QPStrangers
They did have game management, QPR didn't create many chances, you expect them to throw everything at you as they had nothing to lose. They scored a great freekick, and the rare thing of a goalie scoring. Mistakes were made in lead upto goals that's not game management
Players out on there feet are though.

Lad I know (has no reason to lie) reckons one in by Wednesday did say one was at the game sat so could have just saw that on here and jumped to conclusions like
