Agreed. And it's not difficult to understand it really. Mind there's no reason why we can't build their likely attitude into our planning if we're looking at recruiting from that area. Short contract, big sell on and buyout fee etc. It's only a bad thing if we don't prepare for it.
Its the volatile nature of any foreign transfer , most down to chance if the homework has not been done. Any, well most European, African or South American players are not coming here for the Club, only the money and maybe, just maybe a big buck transfer to Madrid or Barca..

My current understanding of club strategy is to get in good youngsters and sell them off for a big profit... hence becoming over a period of time self-sustaining.

Its a good theory.... which is hard to make work let alone have the club climb up the division/leagues... time will tell.

Whilst hindsight will inform how good/bad we have been in this window, in about a months time.

Imho, atm our transfers in are not sufficient ... if we are to have a decent squad and successful season I await with anticipation what transpires!

Don't like that get good younguns in and keep them
Till they are with us in the Prem
Why would we have to sell them ?

Ridiculous

It should be, but not when tomorrow is paying.

Barcelona have sold 25% of their TV rights for the next 25 years. Something over £400m I believe. Kind of spending money stuff.

They, (with Juventus and Real Madrid) are gambling on winning a case they have with the ECJ . Winning it, - which they will- opens the door for the European Super League, which in itself is the only "legitimate" hope for these clubs.

The fact that the case, which regards monopoly provision, has nothing to do with the initial, principled arguments against the ESL, is neither here nor there.

Then we will witness the craven and slavering Premier League deciding that after all, the clubs who broke their contract when even signing up for the first attempt at the ESL, broke nothing at all, and can do whatever they like without sanction.

Backhanders safely banked.

I apologise to everyone....my remarks certainly weren't intended to be racist...which I'm not.....more a cautionary comment as sometimes incoming players don't settle and can be disruptive....as I said...we do have examples not so long back. Please accept my apologies....I didn't mean to offend.
Don’t be apologising mate, once apologise they’ll have you doing it for everything<laugh>

I never said they were, Sandy. What makes you say that?
Not getting at you, just trying to make a point. When I read the original post the term “African” conjured up black people, then I had second thoughts that a lot of Africans are white. I think most on here would have assumed the same thing thus my reply. Just making a point.

Teams like Chelsea for example make me sick and are everything wrong with football. 20 year of riches from dodgy money, then few weeks of "oh they could go out of business, (absolute bollocks),we can't pay the tea lady", billionaires lining up round the block to buy them, chucking bids in the bin left right and centre.Pay BILLIONS for them, come in and it's just business as usual, 63 million quid on Left backs etc. Clubs like Chelsea fall in ****e and come out smelling of roses.Meanwhile the Bury FCs go out of business. I know you can't compare the two, ones in the North West, and ones in West London.

It is mind boggling mate. It isnt just Chelsea, it is the premier league, and in particular the usual 6 or 7.

The premier league, as an organisation, have both done a brilliant job, but are also an insular, small minded, organisation that will implode. They have done a great job in over marketing and over exposing their product. The self publicising is a thing to behold, and they have convinced half the football watching world it is the best league on the planet, when in reality it isnt even in the top 3. They just keep spending more money on marketing to keep people believing, even though you can watch a game and it be very poor fare.

Their latest ruse, which has me spitting feathers, is to offer a better amount of money to us championship clubs, if we commit to a certain number of u23s in a matchday squad. The idea being it is their u23s, on loan, because they have finally come to the realisation that u23s football is rubbish, oh and sending their u23s to europe is now harder. Here is an idea, and back to your original point mate, prem clubs should play their own u23s, instead of spending £60m on a left back when they already have 2 internationals in that position. Why should the championship become a nursery for the most hideously self centred league? That league can whither away as far as I am concermed. It just gets worse as a product each season, but becomea more self important each season.

Mate just so you know I liked your apology because I can see you meant no harm. I was with a group of East African kids at the commonwealth games yesterday and security were a disgrace with them. Calling them a gang when they were a football club and accusing other random people who happened to be African heritage of being in their gang. It caused a lot of upset and they left so I’m a bit sensitive today. No intention of upsetting the thread in fact I tried to get it back on track, just thought it was a dangerous throwaway comment I needed to challenge but nowt personal.
