they murdered the No2 first half who then went on the whole of the second to run the show for Coventry. He was spare man everytime they attacked, or set up the attacks. Don't take my word just look at the replays.

Yep, should’ve been all over him. He was hopeless defensively first half and they just gave him a free pass to roam forward second half.

I thought he was being fouled at an acceptably mild level and was going down too easily. There was maybe once or twice he should have got one that he didn't. Our lads were trying to rip shirts off backs and being too blatant with the other fouls.
We are definitely a dirty time wasting team under Neil. I don't mind that one bit <cool>

They brought on a new right wing back in that triple sub. Coventrys first choice, but coming back from injury. Clarke couldnt get near him, mind you he isnt a wing back in my opinion.

Yeah, true. However, it's a tough one because if you catch someone on purpose, or by accident, in or outside the box, a foul/penalty is generally awarded.

Yet there's so many shirt pulls in the box from runs, or corners that go unpunished because the ref hasn't got ten pairs of eyes.

VAR would slow the game down so much if every single apeal was scrutinised from corners or runs into the box.

It seems that defenders from every team seem to be allowed to, to an extent, to hold, nip, shirt pull, or to push/obstruct in every single box set piece these days.

Yes it's a contact sport, but in most games, it's become a lottery for the officials to police tbf....it's insane at times man.

Great takling points though mind...
If they got really strict on the shirt pulling, it would soon stop

Stewart was annoying me a little today. Was clear the ref wasn't having the hussle. Would of like him to be a little stronger or even Simms to be given a sniff.
Never understand why a player moans when a defender clatters him from behind and the referee takes no action. Next time the ball is lofted forward get behind the defender and clatter him!

Whoever comes in now needs to be better than what we already have and can slip straight in to the midfield roles otherwise its a pointless waste of money.
I agree, if it’s an upgrade on Evans he automatically becomes the sub and Onien drops from the bench. To have any ambition of promotion (which I expect AN to have) it’s the first 11 that gets strengthened not the subs.

have always thought when a ref 'sees something' going on in the melee before a free kick or corner he should award a foul or penalty, he obviously notices something that would be a foul at any other time so just change the decision and we will hopefully see the end of it.

I'd be keeping Evans and binning O'Nein. I honestly thing he will not be able to step up to the next level

He can't do that . . . . he can only award as suggested if the ball's in play :emoticon-0105-wink:

aye, but they keep changing the offside rule, they keep changing the hand ball rule etc...so it should be easy to give the ref the ability to award a foul/penalty during a dead ball situation.

All of our players deserve some time to readjust to the level they’re playing. I’m convinced that some unexpected will step up and some expected will struggle. There were a few ‘Gooch ffs’ comments and he did well. So let’s see. What we do need ideally are a couple more tried and tested players at this level but not sure if our budget allows it.

I am not often Gooch's biggest fan, but imho he had a decent game yesterday and WB may be his best position. He has to keep that form up mind...

I think Neil likes him as he is versatile at WB, had a very decent first half, but double up on him and didn't get enough of the ball second half for me.
Much rather have him than 09, who l like but he is very rash at times. Not quite sure why he came on yesterday as didn't make a difference to the game for me.

Always thought O9 played his best for us at centre half with Sanderson. He was excellent for most of his games there, and not bad at right back either. Better at both than in midfield IMO, as both of those positions suited his tenacity and willingness to run all day.
