Agreed. Think Johnson(?) brought him in from the cold for that game, he dropped 2 clangers and Burge was back in goal for the next game, saving 2 penalties.

Doyle isn't ready for the championship. Our forward players would tear him a new one. Coventry are welcome to that one.
We'll see how it pans out for him but at the start of last season he was our best defender and I bet there's a lot worse in the Championship. He faltered I know but I think that was largely a confidence thing - not surprising at his age when you suffer a couple of ridiculous scale defeats. Fresh start for him now and he will draw on last year as good experience. I'd wish him luck if he wasn't in a rival team

I like Doyle, think he will go on to have a very very good career. Stepping up a league will suit him I think championship is a lot less physical, teams allow you to play football I think he will shine again. Burge was below average in a lot of aspects of being a goalkeeper, but he was very good at saving penalties I have to say.
It's interesting that clubs apparently do actually sign people just to play in training games. A mate of mine (a smoggy) has a relation who was offered a place with us last season, but he was told he would only be used to give the first team defenders a good work out in practice, there'd be no chance of him playing a real match for us. He went to a League two side instead, where he would play.
If the Clarke signing is anything to go by, there is a good chance.
Looks like they intend to really go for it this season.
Coventry were decent last season, so will be better this year with some decent signings.
