Hard to tell who's more delighted, Spurs or Richarlison.
Would like to see Callum back in league one at a footballing side, not many to choose from there like
There's a little doubt in my head about how some fans are going to adapt to our new approach.
Football players have become a very disposable item in recent years. Fans will happily write a player off after a couple of games, demand new players every transfer window and always want massive improvements.
I think we have to learn how to be patient. Signing young players and bringing players through the academy means that we can't write them off after a handful of games. Players can continue to develop and improve. We've signed Ballard for 4 years and are looking to try and get Clarke permanently. These aren't players that we improve upon next season because "they're midtable Championship players" and we're striving for the Premier League. They're players that we nurture and support through their dips in form who are here for the long term.
I think this goes for players already at the club as well. Matete and Dajaku are probably the best 2 examples I can think of. I think we'd all acknowledge that they showed glimpses last season without being consistently fantastic. But we can't sign so many players that these 2 are 4th or 5th choice in their position. We have to leave that gap in the squad for this type of player to fill.
It's going to be tough to adapt but we need to embrace it. At this moment in time, this club is pulling together in the same direction and that kind of morale and team spirit should not be underestimated. Whenever Sunderland has done well in my lifetime, we've always been greater than the sum of our parts and that's the best way I can describe us under Alex Neil right now. I want the core of this squad to still be here 3 years from now.
Absolutely right mate. There's a little doubt in my head about how some fans are going to adapt to our new approach.

Patience with young kids is essential. Dan Neil is a prime example.
In the past we have either flogged them to death or given up on them after a few bad games.
And I think we have the manager to get the balance right.
As soon as he came in he spotted the balance was wrong with the young players
Personally I'm more happy now than I've been in year to sit back let them get on with it
Think we are in good hands
There's something about this Ballard deal that stinks.
It defies geography, something that's held us back in the past.
He's a young international, properly coached from boyhood and was wanted by other clubs.
And he's been given a four year contract at the age of twenty two ...
... surely we only give those contracts to ageing mercenaries who no-one else wants.
There's something rotten at this club and we should demand to know what's going on.
Protest anyone?
We need a bedsheet with #gettheswissoutofourclubI'm gonna shout at Swiss banks.

Nope, would want decent wages and I expect at his age would want guarantees that he would start most weeks. Need to get away from these types of signings imoShane Long left Southampton, would anyone have him as back up to Stewart?
Yeah I was a huge fan of his last season but I would go ambitious and try and get Nathan Patterson on loan. I know there's a good chance we wont get him but if Lampard doesn't trust him yet then would be an unreal signing on loan for a season for us.I've not seen this one linked anywhere, it's just a suggestion of my own, but I'd love to see us make a move to bring in Calvin Ramsey on loan at right back. Scottish Young player of the year last season, he's an attacking full back who can use both feet and has a superb delivery. He's not going to get much time at Liverpool just yet so they'd possibly be open to loaning him out. He also doesn't get in the way of us developing Huggins or Hume to be the long term right back for this club. What it does is allow Hume to go out on loan for the season to league one and get a year of football under his belt. It also allows Huggins some time to come back from long term injuries and find some form.
