its definitely the "last" position we need. As you say central midfielder and probably a better RWB would be my two priorities (not scapegoating Gooch here - just think its an area to be improved).

But if the club HAVE decided we need an extra CB option then there's no reason they shouldn't get that now, rather than wait until we have the priorities.

If you're at the supermarket and you really want beer and wine but you also might want to pick up some milk if you remember, and then you're passing the milk section, you don't think "I'll come back to this once I've got my beer". You pick it up and then go and find your beer.

that's the worst analogy I've ever done.

:emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm I don't trawl your posts, but from what I've seen, you're probably right! I'm off to work out out whether I want beer, wine or milk! :emoticon-0105-wink:

I think Diamond should look elsewhere now, the club clearly have a plan going forward and I don't see him in it. I may be on my own here, but I also think Gooch and O'Nien have limited shelf lives if in this and the next transfer windows Neil gets the players in he needs,

I still think we'll go 4-2-3-1 this season but will use 3 at the back when we play against certain opposition. Cirkin can easily play LCB therefore if we can get backup to him and that player can cover LWB then we are sorted on that side of defence. I can see O9 being used more as a utility player who can play CB. He is not good enough in a 2 in midfield. If we can get a RB, LB, 2xCM and another forward player then I'd be really confident with our squad.

Disagree. I think Diamond has a part to play with us for this season. Lyndon and Luke are major members of the squad and will contribute well.
A centre mid....and cover left back.....we're cooking with gas!

Alese fits the bill.

I'd like to see three more, presuming Huggins will make it back part-way through the season:

a quality deep-lying midfielder
a right (wing) back, and
a striker who can play No.10

Diamond & Winiesta for sale.
Matete to go out on loan, possibly Hume as well.

I'd rather see a striker who could play wide, think we have enough options for the No.10 role but agree on midfielders and winger/wing back

O'Nien is miles away from the level we need

He can do a job for us,and he's great around the training ground and the dressing room.Often, you need someone like him.
I agree he's not going to take us into the PL,unless we can shoehorn him into a role he's comfortable with and he can play with the game in front of him.
Not sure, but,at this level, sometimes you need players who can come on and do a job.....and he's certainly that.

Clarke is an attacking winger, who tracks back and defends a bit.

Cirkin is a defensive full-back who can attack a bit.

Gooch is not an all out winger or full-back but does a WB okay(ish)

Roberts and Diamond are not seen as potential WBs only as wingers?

Dajaku is a winger?
