Not a bad player and I know the marked is crazy at the moment. But £4 million for a 32 year old marginally better than Karl Henry is madness imo. I for one are glad we as a club are finished doing deals like that.
I've seen that we are about to meet the buy out clause for Matt Taylor from Bristol Rovers. I think he would be a bargain at £2.5 million. This excites me more than anyone else we have been linked with this summer!
Quite simply, if the club really wants to go back to first principles and bring through its own quality players from the youth setup, then selling them ain't quite the right message.
Surely there must be some prem striker who doesn't want to sit on a bench who is available apart from the unrealistic, Ausitn, Crouch, Remy etc. Ricky Lambert? Or someone from league one like Gregory who is a better fit than Washington into our one up front 'style'.
JFH said he was happy and relieved after the Hoops ground out a victory. He added that he was hopeful of bringing in another winger and at least 1 striker, we are looking at a few and we hope the phone will be ringing a lot. It looks at least as if we are trying to add to the squad before the deadline closes !
As are Derby....£10 million for Vydra....really not sure we would be happy if our lot had spent that amount on Vydra
