A quick recap of the Charlton transfer guessing / speculation / lifting from other forums today. 1. Swisdom has had a drink with a player 2. Alfie May has gone from definitely leaving to “he will be a good partner for Ahdemne” in the space of 48 hours. 3. “Good riddance to George Dobson” has become “roll out the red carpet” for GD. Certain forums should vote Green, they recycle so much. In truth, nobody apart from Rich Cawley knows what’s going on. The SMT may leak like the hull of the Titanic, but if they jeopardise Nathan Jones’ transfer plans they are taking a mighty risk.
#cafc manager Nathan Jones is expecting nine signings in this transfer window. From said Rich Cawley.
It would be good to get as many as possible in a good while before the last day of the transfer window too, by which time we will have played 4 or 5 games. Too many times Charlton have had barely half a squad for pre-season and August matches.
I think that is what Jones wants. But it is not always possible. I have heard the goalkeeper Davies is close Also the forward from Ipswich. That will be six. You will also see a number of players leave on perms or loan. I can see Fraser, Assimwe, Edun and Kanu leave on perms or loans.
Who else is sick and tired of hearing about Dobson and May? There has been so much speculation and made up stories. If May goes he goes, but I will not believe stories that he was overheard at a Cricket match saying he was off the next morning to Huddersfield. Why do I keep on believing this nonsense? Only when it is on an official channel. Dobson will not be playing for us next season. He will be playing in Hungary despite some people posting otherwise.
Agreed the whole May thing is a drag. If we aren't going to build for the future based on his proven goal scoring though, that is a huge question mark over the Club's commitment. And if NJ doesn't really want May there, that is a massive call by our latest manager. His alternative to May's goals had better be effective. We would be in League Two right now had Alfie not scored those goals.
I’ve been playing Hungarian Guess Who this morning. It’s similar to the English version, only the answers change without any apparent logic from day to day. “Is it a midfield player?” Yes “Does he have brown hair?” Yes “Is he definitely signing for a team in Hungary?” Yes (The latter answer appeared to change from “no” the day before).
From a Coventry fan. We have agreed a fee with Matty Godden. Good goal scorer. It could mean May is off.
Rodwell said the investors have put the SMT under no pressure to sell, and that Nathan Jones has the final say now on all incomings & exits.
