Yeah, and I don't begrudge him trying to get a big wage, we don't know, he could 'only' be looking for say 5k a week and we may only be offering 3k, and he may get lucky, but there are a lot of players available on a free and clubs facing the worst financial impacts since WWII, for a lad that struggled to get into a pretty **** Derby team last year tho.....anyways could just be posturing at this point and may not be dead in the water
Hull City’s Championship rivals Millwall have seen a bid for Sheffield Wednesday star Josh Windass rebuffed. It was £400k apparently.
Sheff massive hoping to start a bidding war, get a bit cash into the building and trim their wage bill for the league 1 campaign. A few clubs will be putting in low ball offers during the window.
Flores has signed for Northampton on loan for the season. Surprised to see him drop in L2 but he needs the games.
I did say earlier in the summer that this would happen to a fair few of our players and was criticised for it! You ain't getting any money for them in this market. Although, I can't see us getting anything for Flores
Haha I know that was my point. You got shouted down for suggesting exactly what looks to be happening. And it makes sense, getting wages off our books to bring in players who will contribute is just as worthwhile as actually selling the player. If they won't feature for us, and we can't facilitate a sale, a loan is just as good in the current environment.
One thing is certain. It won't be Marriot and Charles. We may be used as makeweights in negotiations from now until the end of the window by any player's Agent that we've pursued interest in. Ultimately, if we're the best offer standing come the 30th june well get the man. If were not then we wont. Hopefully there'll be alternatives. Window only really moves when pre-season starts anyway.
I said at the time I found this a strange signing, McCann had said we will only bring in players who improve us, and apart from this Puskas nomination award I could see anything that pointed to him being a player like that. Obviously, McCann didn't see anything in him after he came, hence why he has been loaned out and probably being in Div 2 might see the best of him.
It also allows us to keep control of the player. If Flores has a great season, we can bring him back into the squad and utilise him. It's just sensible. We've got a lot of players who need to play games. Fleming, McLoughlin, Mayer, Scott, Eaves along with the young kids like Chadwick, Salam and Festus who need to go and play games. I hope they all go out. Baz Cooper said there'll be another departure this week. It's so important to get them out as early as possible, having a full pre season at their temporary homes is much more likely to make the loan spell a sucess.
We needed the cover especially after C Jones got injured. Plus we had to work under the cap so needed somebody cheap, I read that Dundalk had a total weekly wage bill of around €11k, so Flores would have been on peanuts. It made sense and he got the opportunity to prove he was good enough for the top end of L1. It didn't work out but he should be a regular for Northampton.
The Daily Mail reckon we're after Ryan Tunnicliffe along with Hudds, Derby abd Barnsley. Anything in it Howden?
