Transfer window officially opens early June if I remember correctly.
well whatever it is it doesn't really matter , i think most contracts run till 30th June and then if players sign at their new clubs on 1st July but again it's all irrelevant as you can negotiate a transfer anytime you want really

exactly. transfers can happen any time of day 365 days a year. its only registering that player with the league / FA that can happen within windows.

Which is my argument for being patient while the window is still open that we

I’m talking about the running of the club.
I don’t believe for one second that one player, however good they are, will ever make a team! you need to have the balance right to let them players flourish, so putting all your eggs in one basket is a no from me!
I am talking about the cost of the player not the player himself.

Of course you can. Although we haven't done so in the past, and somehow on the internet the solution has become to do exactly the same again - just pay them what they want has been a disaster for us repeatedly. They come in, they're crap, and we can't shift them.

You don't need to break the bank to get out of this division, you need to recruit properly and not leave yourself with a load of L1 players on top money in the Championship and no room to manoeuvre.

Exactly this. Particularly when several poor players on top money will be gone next June, and the room to manoeuvre will be available to us,at long last.

What's the latest with the full back from Exeter? Was the fourth bid successful?

That one has gone a bit quiet

Going to assume the 4th bid wasn't successful, but doesnt mean a 5th or 6th one hasn't been

Also worth saying the whole thing may have been fabricated by one Exeter journo.

everything has gone quiet mate, nothing at all coming from the club. So the options are
1) Nowts happening, nothing to report
2) We are waiting for the best players ever to grace League one and the club are keeping it close to their chest.
There isn't anything in between

Just a bit strange there wasn't a follow up about a 5th bid or a withdrawal on our part or the lad signing a new deal at Exeter

:emoticon-0102-bigsm Wisdom worthy of your moniker from about 2500 years ago mate!

I notice Wigan's new owner has set up a company that seems to specifically exist to sponsor Wigan. Guess its a way of getting more money into the club without falling foul of rules.

We can moan about if all we like, but its actually the kind of thing I was expecting us to do with the Louis-Dreyfus Group. Maybe we will next season once the GAS deal is over.

I agree a Premier League club is bought as a status thing which is why Short bought us but we aren't a Premier League club now and pumping in Premier League money into the running of a League One club is madness
Getting the club onto the right track has to be the first thing to do in the situation we have been left in, surely?
You make good points and I agree with you in principle, but the main thing has to be to get out of this league. It is an embarrassment. Agree that we have to be right financially but it would only cost a small %age on the debt, which could then be addressed over time.

I'd agree. I assumed we had changed our minds before he agreed his exit and travelled up.

we will probably never know the story but I'd love to
If it’s true then that is just amateurish to put it in a loose term
