no worries but you also know that BB hasn't got any. I think we as fans are sick of empty promises (I'm not saying its the case this time) but you cant blame us as fans for having reservations. Posters on RTG are listening to madbob who is going around telling everyone KLD wont be spending money, its sustainability first. Now I don't understand how we can become sustainable without spending it, maybe that's just me though. We have a lot of work to do with this squad as it stands and the season is fast approaching. Hopefully holding out for the better players is true, but again no one really knows
Plus Billy was only suggesting that Johnson talks ****e, he doesn't need to be a Prime Minister to know Boris does too :emoticon-0105-wink:.
Few, thought you were having a pop at my fifa 1974 skills there for a mo... <laugh>

I remember reading that from Johnson and scratching my head. If you look at pictures of Hawkes he looks no smaller than Scowen or Leadbitter. He played numerouse games for Hartlepools first team aswell, so he's used of playing against grown men.
Heres a couple of pics of him from a few years ago so bare in mind the fact he'll have put even more size on since these pics. The one with Catts is from about 4 years ago. He looks more than capable of holding his own to me, Johnson makes him sound like a kid. I wonder if he makes the Man city lad bulk up before playing him if he signs :emoticon-0112-wonde.

Doesn't 'look' like he needs to bulk up, but there's a difference between size and core strength.

If anything Dreyfus seems to firmly disprove that theory. He wouldn't have to work a day in his life if he didn't want to and he seems very serious about the responsibility of owning a football club.
What is it with people wanting to knock this set up? After all the animosity towards Stewart Donald, you'd think that people would be pleased to have a young owner, with fresh ideas, and a family background in football club ownership. I can understand a healthy dose of pessimism but people just seem to want to criticise and its always presented as 'realism' or claims of being more knowledgeable.

People use pessimism as a defence mechanism as they're fed up of years of having hopes crushed.

I can understand it from a psychology point of view. The problem is when they then try to project that pessimism onto everyone else.

Ipswich and Wigan were shyte last season, they had to so something pretty big this window. I didnt expect this much activity from either of them though.
They are both showing their intent on getting out of this cess pit of a league and i cant fault them. I wish we would show some ambition now and make a signing or 4 that makes the rest of the league look up and take notice.
Ipswich are the only real threat that I can see. Who have Wigan signed that should worry us?

Charlie Wyke and Max Power are their star signings.

I understand that, but there's pessimism and then there's rubbishing the club/owner/manager/players/approach before they've even started.

Sheffield Wednesday have the best squad / manager combo by my reckoning. Ipswich look strong with Cook. Portsmouth unknown with Cowley's.

I'm less worried about Wigan but we all know that's going to shoot us in the foot.

He has already spent money on building a management infrastructure that we have never had , has spent money on laying a new pitch as Donald would not spend money maintaining the old one , he has spent money on ongoing routine maintenance at the stadium and academy to bring them up to a good standard , so he has SPENT money . The transfer window is just past the half way mark so if the right players become available I am sure he would back Speakman and Johnson- we just have to be patient and judge how we have done at the end of the window and how we start the season .

What's your experience in managing a football team mate?
None. It's called having an opinion. So by your logic you can't criticize a player if you haven't played the game aswell?
I personally think Johnson is full of excuses at times.
Saying Hawkes needs to bulk up to get in the first team.
The transfer market is stagnant.
U23s will get a pathway to the first team under me, despite us having a defensive crisis tail end of the season Younger didn't even get a sniff of the first team.

I'm not feeling it with Sheff Wed. They've released about 15 players and some of the names look like first team players from what I can see. Westwood, Lees, Reach, Harris, Rhodes, Penney. I'm sure they would have been in and around the first team. Also the two lads Celtic bought for half a million I'm guessing would have probably had more than enough talent for this division.

Sheffield Wednesday are big name only and look how that can bring success in this division. <laugh>
They’ve already signed well to supplement some of the best players in the league (Bannan, Luongo etc) and will continue to do so under Moore

3-4 years ago these pics mate. Hes about 22 years old now, i think Johnson was just trying to make excuses when he made that statement because of the pressure he was getting to play him.
Younger is a big unit and he was also starring for the U23s at the time but Johnson still preferred to play first teamers out of position rather than give him a chance.
