They got in down both sides in the first half, not just the left. It's different to Winchester playing RB. Dan Neil is an inexperienced right footed CM being asked to play LB, he won't get much protection from Mcgeady (no full back would). Winchester is more experienced at first team level and has played RB before and has a massive grafter in Gooch in front of him. Did Dan Neil get beat a few times? Yes he did. Did he grow into the game and give everything? Yes he did. Will he get better? Yes he will. I'd rather have him playing than Mcfadzean
Both aren't full backs and both will be caught out. Winchester may be injured which further increases our need. We'll improve only when defenders are brought in. Hopefully soon.

Hopefully they do come in soon so that Johnson can fully play the way he wants to. Winchester has played a fair few games at RB, it's not the end of the world if he plays a few more games there.
Any full back can get caught out wether it's there natural position or not. Sometimes you have to say 'fair play' to the opposition. That was a promotion rival we played on Sat. Most of the other sides aren't at that level.

It us the end if the world. If safc in l2 can't put a team out of players in the rightful positions somethings gone very wrong. Oh and winchester came off injured. Another flaw in the everything will be fine viewpoint. Who's next to be played out of position?

end of the world? Steady on. We’ve just spent 3 seasons with a centre mid who’d never played right back, playing right back. We can go a few more games with a different one who has played right back before

To be fair we havr no idea if we have struggled to close deals as we dont know who we have actually been in for, other than names linked on social media and in the press
So we've been happy to leave the squad in its current state after the season gas started? I doubt very much kld and his team wanted that before preseason planning started

How many promotions from our lowest positon in our history did we manage in that time with a patched up defence?

Stating in l1 is just that!

I can think of a million worse things than Sunderland being in league one. And plenty of football related things that are worse than Sunderland being in league one.

and as Ipswich, Wigan and Sheffield Wednesday all found out yesterday - filling your teams with new players takes a while to gel. There’s an argument that says Winchester at RB, having played there in pre season and no doubt spending training in that position, would actually be better there at the moment than bringing in a specialist right back who needs to get up to speed.

Nothing football related is worse than our current positon if you can't see that I feel sorry for you.

FFS mate change the record! Everybody who's posted in this thread has stated that we need 2 full backs! You bringing it up in every post isn't going to make them sign any quicker!

Unless we do its still worth discussing. Unless you wish to bury you head in the sand. Hope the recruitment team dint feel this way. Already been agreed full backs vitally important to way we play.

We wouldn't, got full u23 and u18 squads to choose from. At least 25 players to pick from. Most had minutes in pre season as well. Eliis Taylor, Sam Wilding, Ollie Younger, Tyrese Dyce would all start for me, as would Hawkes.
Oh well I'd were playing u18s on mass in the first team I stand corrected. What are we worried about!

Most of the Holland side in the 70s?

And no-one has disagreed with you regarding it but its the only thing you are posting. As I said, no-one is disputing the fact theat we need full backs and in my opinion the more the merrier but I'm not going to lose sleep worrying about it and bringing it up on here every time. The window is still open and I assume that the club is looking at players (I'm sure I've said that before in a reply to one of your posts!) and we as fans can't do anything until the usual scarf photo is posted. If you're that worried, you should get in touch with those in the know within the club just in case they don't know about it
