Potential, stadium size, yada, yada. Means nowt. The here and now means we're fighting with the Ipswich's and Portsmouth's and Wigan's of this world for the better 'bottom end' players to try to get us out of this league. There's two things to remember - one, we DID stink the PL out, we were the equivalent of the old First division Coventry City - always hanging around and never doing the decent thing and just ****ing off out, and two, our fall from grace was spectacularly abysmal. Neither of which are great selling points to potential signings.

KLD and his team have barely got their feet under the table, exactly how much progress are people expecting after a few months, before the window has shut and before a ball has been kicked in anger? Far too much Covid/Lockdown tension kicking around I think.
Are you really tying to say that club infrastructure and crowd size has no bearing on player recruitment?

And as for recruiters only being in place a few months, Speakman was appointed on Dec 4th. He wasn't starting from scratch, he was already very experienced in the role, coming in with a wealth of contacts. He is the architect of the new SAFC footballing philosophy and, following his comments made when LJ's appointment was announced the day after Speakman's being announced it was obvious that he had already been working for SAFC ahead of this time ('Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman added: “The role of our Head Coach is going to be critical in delivering the strategy we have collectively established. This aligned approach has enabled us to create a profile for the position and following a rigorous process, I felt Lee was the outstanding candidate" ').

Although we appointed a head of player recruitment (Stuart Harvey) at the end of March, it means he has been in place for nearly 4 months now and surely his first priority would have been working on targets for this upcoming season. The thing we knew even back then was that we were desperate for full backs so I don't think it unreasonable to have expected some of those to have arrived as early signings, rather than arriving at or a few weeks after the start of the new season?

How have we failed to fill places
I think we are going after who we want

i never said we were, i said with that early list it would be expected that places would be filled quickly but it 'appears' as if the club is struggling to fill places...if you read my other posts you would realise i am not one in a panic over transfers.

i agree we are getting targets but i think some have read far too much into this early list and were expecting 'instant' transfers...hence the reason for some getting into a mild panic, so i think it was a bad move to make so much of this list.

Hearing Wright will be away before beginning of the season to free up wages. (At the moment seems against LJ wishes).

Also, nothing imminent but lots of talks with players..things could move fast if deal good for all parties..also waiting on other clubs to find players before they release their players.
If it’s against the managers wishes then I’m not happy at all about that, recipe for disaster if the manager doesn’t have the players he wants in the squad, also funnily enough that’s what Speakman spoke about in his first unfiltered podcast

probably has to go since O'Brien and Grigg wont shift because they are being paid far too much for doing far too little. Although AOB tries, he's just a **** Sunday League player, the less said about Grigg the ****ing better, what a ****er that bloke is

I agree, I'm not against letting Wright go but it has to be the gaffers decision ultimately surely.

grigg was kind of dragged here against his wishes but in all honesty, as a professional athlete i can never understand any that give less than 100%...you are not going to engineer a move by being crap, the only reason wyke got a fast move was his scoring record from last season (the fact he was a free agent probably helped) but had he been as 'prolific' as his previous couple of seasons we would be stuck with him.

grigg needs to get himself in the shop window again but whether he can be @rsed is another matter, much like rodwell (on a smaller scale) a waste of a squad number right now.

1. We're a basket case of a club, enough to make anyone think twice before signing for us.
2. Back to point 1. The one thing we're guaranteed to need to stabilise is TIME. Anyone who thinks a business model can simply be dropped onto safc and work seamlessly from the off is living in cloud cuckoo land. God knows what else is still coming out of the woodwork after Toot & Ploot's stewardship.
