Also whilst I’m sure Martin knows/likes a fair few of the Swansea players, I’m hoping a lot of it is just easy links and paper talk. Signing 4/5 players from the team who finished 10th in the championship doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence for the season ahead. Players like Grimes and Manning aren’t young so if we were to make an immediate return there are big question marks over their ability at the next level. Wood/Piroe/Cabango are all young so possibly could become PL level players.

Choudhury is a very good defensive anchor, but he'd be a slightly unusual choice in a possession-based system; his passing stats last year (beyond basic accuracy) were all middling or worse, which is presumably why he isn't getting PL attention. Tidy player, but we'd very much need a progressive box-to-box player with him if we hope to get the ball forward. A Wanyama in search of a Schneiderlin.

Blows my mind that people think JWP should leave and would like to sign Grimes in his place. I think a lot of people here are very guilty of believing the grass is greener on the other side. Replacing a PL stalwart with sublime set pieces, a perfect injury history and on the fringes of international football with a bang average Championship CM. It would he an enormous downgrade.
