Salisu being linked with Newcastle, hopefully we can get some kind of bidding war going for him

Clearly out of his depth and could do with more time shadowing top managers or working his way up from lower in the football pyramid. Maybe he’ll become a good manager some day but he’s a long way off based on what we’ve seen, albeit he could barely have had a more difficult start to managerial life. Doesn’t deserve any vitriol imo, he’s a nice guy who just wasn’t up to the job.

I am not convinced at all by any of these players although Bednarek has been decent since his return. I think we will be lucky to find a new home for the others.

Finding homes won’t be an issue, it’s getting a decent fee for them will be the challenge

The whole "how dare they ask for £40m from a relegated side", having clearly not seen Lavia play, having clearly forgotten they bought Robertson from a relegated side, and having clearly ignored that Ake cost City £40m from a relegated Bournemouth.

With his lack of experience, the oversized squad, a demoralised team, supporters extremely unhappy, and playing in the most competitive league anywhere, Ruben deserves our respect and appreciation for his handling of a poisoned chalice of a job. He certainly does not deserve the vitriol many seem to throw at him.

I sincerely hope he has learnt a lot and with better guidance in the future will probably be a decent manager in the future. Good luck to him.

It’s more the “why the **** would we want Lavia” type attitude when they obviously haven’t seen him play.

Although this one did make me laugh

Don’t see how it makes any sense for us to sell Lavia this summer for £40m when we could get £40m the following summer with City’s buy back and maintain the relationship. Be interesting to see how much it would take for us to sell Lavia to one of City’s rivals this summer. Got to be significantly more than £40m you’d think.

Yeah I agree with this, I can see us selling him back to City this summer for £40m to maintain the relationship, but you’d think they would be in contact with him about future plans etc he wouldn’t necessarily kick off if Liverpool came in for him if he knew City were bringing him back next summer at the latest anyway. Makes me think that the rumours atm are just completely made up by journos who haven’t done their research into the buyback

It also isn't as if City can't bid for him this season, it's just that the firm price isn't active. If they want him back, they can pay for him same as anyone else.

Well yeah, but if we start accepting bids of say £50m from their rivals and tell them to match it then I think we can kiss goodbye to any Lavia type deal being done again. How much we value that relationship with the best team in the country is another question.

From City’s perspective from the sounds of it they sold Lavia for £10m and were happy to buy him back for £40m in 2 seasons. So paying £30m to have him develop at a lower PL side they obviously thought would be a good environment for him. We have been relegated so they may now want to get him back earlier as they don’t want him playing in the Championship. I’d imagine their opening offer would be along the lines of “It was £15m a season for developing him, you did one season so here’s £25m (15+ the 10 you paid to sign him)”

How much we want to bend over to City to maintain the relationship is the key for me with Lavia. £25m plus another couple of youngsters and a loanee may sound like a good deal to us
