6 days before the window shuts.

If Eriksen is still at Spurs after it shuts, he’ll leave for peanuts in January or for nothing next June. A £100m asset in today’s market all day long.

I’d expect a team to come in for him with an offer in the region of £35-40m and force Levy’s hand next week.

Be funny if he goes to a prem rival.
Can taste the salt already at the thought

Not necessarily.

The window may shut here on 8th Aug, but in Spain it’s 30th Aug, so there’s a chance he could be sold even after our window closes. Which is why I think we’ll sign a back up before the 8th.

I think it would be smart to do that.

Levy seems to have lost all of his chips on this one, unusual for him but I don’t see him getting anywhere near the 70m he’s asking for.

He’s already dropped his knickers for Real, but they seemingly don’t want to know.

What happens next, your guess is as good as mine.

Umtiti is awful. Koulibaly £105m and a risk as you say.

I reckon Arsenal were waiting to buy Bailly. Shame he got injured.

Agree with you wholly on Umtiti ... makes me laugh that posters who are quick to jump on the "Maguire is average" band wagon offer up very average alternatives ... Umtiti is a real liability ... lot of myth around some of these foreign lads ...

Sir Alex Ferguson is apparently a great admirer of Harry Maguire ... Danny Devito in Weymouth ain't... I'd humbly suggest that SAF has the better knowledge <cheers>

Shows you how ****ed up the transfer market is by the fact Swansea got £20million from Sheffield United for Ollie McBurnie yet got £15million from us for Dan James.

I can tell you having seen both in every (home) game last season that Dan James is ten times the player McBurnie is.

The fee is largely dependent on how needy the buying club is

We needed a centre half, so while Maguire isn't 'worth' £80million, he is to us. And Leicester knew it.

In a nutshell Chief ... the melties have got so hung up on the sum that they can't see the obvious due to their blinkers ... the fee reflects that selling would not have been our preference but rather, acceptance of the situation ... but does not mean we have to roll over on price ... simple economics in the end ... <cheers>

No one is melty ffs.

However it is interesting to see what the Worlds Most expensive defender offers that the others dont. People wont really care that United think hes worth it. They will always bring it to the price tag.

just the nature of the beast, when we sold Bale it was the same...when Pool bought Allison/VVD for record breaking prices...we were/are all waiting to see if they justify the price tag

No different for Maguire

This is also true.

But the fact is, we've been waiting a decade for a genuine commanding centre half to replace the likes of Vidic and now we have one.

I think he will live up to the price tag and justify why we spent that.

We've now got a very, very solid looking back five.

Anyway hope he does well...we wouldnt want Maguire stealing the 'PL's biggest ever flop' trophy from Kepa

I think it's much improved. Really like Wan and Maguire is actually a decent CB despite being so expensive. DDG needs to refund his form and it's a very good start.

Who will the other CB only RB be?

Lindelof should partner Maguire.

Shaw left back.

I would promote Tuanzebe into first team squad and have him as CB sub every game, with probably Smalling the other back up.

The rest can go.

Can't wait to see him skinning maguire at old Trafford.

Could be a whole new Vidic/Torres relationship :bandit:
