Fck me this is getting as bad as the Politics thread.

We desperately need footy. This is like oxygen starvation ffs!
How about we try and combine the two.

There doesn't appear to have been much talk on the impact of Brexit on the availability of European players to clubs in the UK after October 31st.
My understanding is:
1. All current EU players living in UK can apply for settlement status (which would allow them to work here). This will apply up to latest 30th June 2021 (or 31st Dec 2020 if we exit with no deal).
2. After that date clubs wanting to bring in an EU player would have to apply for a Work Permit
3. In order to do this the players need to meet a complex set of qualification requirements (see link https://www.reevaldo.com/story/2016/9/15/football-work-permit-premier-league-fa-foreign-players if you are interested). However effectively they need to have been representing their country over the last couple of years or be an experienced ex-international.

I would expect most of the players in the top 6 teams would meet this criteria but moving down the league there are teams like mine for which a number of current first teamers wouldn't qualify:

Javier Manquillo
Florian Lejeune
Joselu (although I think we could probably get an exemption for him as he is disabled)
Ayoze Perez (presumably Ashley will use that as an excuse to why we cashed in on him)

I suspect that the other teams in the mid-lower reaches of the PL will be similarly affected and suspect the problem will be even more acute in the Championship.

There are a number of solutions:
1. Cancel Brexit <laugh> (the " Full Looney Leftie" solution)
2. Continue to allow EU citizens freedom of movement to UK (the "Partial Loony Leftie" solution)
3. Change the criteria by which a foreign player qualifies for a UK Work Permit (this would have to be a fairly drastic change to allow Joselu in though, probably involving removing the word 'player')
4. Do nothing and use this as an opportunity to improve opportunities for young English players so that we can hopefully recapture the glory days when we used to rule the world at football (the "Garage-dwelling Nazi" solution).

So how might it affect your team and which of the solutions appeals?

You fizzed your way to about 7 replies in the space of about 10 posts. You’re cool though, sure.

He's got the best exciting crop of youngsters in the PL that are better than their PL winners to soften the pain ;)

:bandit:

Man for man as individual players they are ... we had Nathan Dyer on loan from Swansea, Jeff Schlupp, Danny Drinkwater, Andy King Marc Albrighton and Matty James as midfield options ... my point was that the manager got more from the team than their worth as individuals ...
