Not a rumour but I've just seen that Barnard is on loan and Bournemouth and scored against Portsmouth on his debut?? I was away from the internet last weekend but how did I miss this? You guys need to pull your thumbs out!

Been 'lurking' on here for ages but decided to register. This whole Ramirez saga is fairly infuriating as a fan but having a chairman/club who won't be bullied into deals that are not, either sustainable or beneficial to the club has got to be a long term benefit. For example, I wouldn't want to be a QPR fan when the wheels fall off. To similar to previous situations at p*mpey/Malaga for me. You can see how this could end up for them.

I guess I'd rather be somewhat frustrated yet secure (much like my marriage) than carrying on with wreckless abandon.

Welcome Rock! I too have been wathcing and tutting QPR since the start of last season. They've been cursed with owners who may ahve a load of money, but a. have awful taste in players and - for a long time - managers, and b. seem to be hapy to sell on and get out if the going gets tough. It's not imo the way to run a football club at this point in time. Whether it keeps them up for a year or two more, the wheels will I think eventually fall off spectacularly.

I reckon West Ham could go the same way, as their planning seems to be based on throwing money at everything, and if it works, then fair play to them. But if it doesn't (as it almost didn't last season), then they are - like many of the female 'acquaintances' of their owners - royally screwed.

Whatever happens, I am so happy I support this club. I reckon we are one of a few (along with Arsenal; possibly Reading, we shall see) who are looking to run their team sustainably, but at the same time looking to move forward each year rather than just stave off relegation. I'm happy to move slowly (but surely) towards this goal. If we achieve what we are said to want to achieve, we could be hailed as a genuine game changing club.Infact, it's hard to express to non-Saints football fans how excited I am by this prospect, for fear of appearing overly smug...

Brilliant video when he scores on youtube :D

IF (!) we get Ramirez, we could have a kind of original one:

Noooo oneee,
shoots like Gaston,
no one scores like Gaston ect...

To the tune of the one from Beauty and the Beast? Probably rubbish I know <laugh>

Though I'm waiting for someone to suggest one for Morgan...................ok what about to the same tune as we did for connolly's song but instead we say Morgan Schneiderlin.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Probably should have signed up a long time ago.

The japanese captain looks like he could be good value and that would be a step forward in suring up, and providing cover for our somewhat light defence. I'd also have liked to see us make a play for Adam Johnson, as he seems to be available now, but sunderland looks his likely destination. He'll probably get stupid money too. That's the problem with the City's of the world, they pay stupid wages for fringe players and that means clubs have to over stretch to bring them in. I'm all in favour of a saints squad salary cap, preserves harmony and helps us live within our means.

Exactly, it wouldn't surprise me if Johnson is on £60-70k a week at city (I've heard rumours of as much as £90-100k), and much as I'd love to see him playing for us, there's no way we can compete with that.

with de ridder unlikely to play much we can shout someone elses first name this season, which player should get that honour though?
