Ramirez agent Betancourt expected today on meeting with Southampton top executives, probably Cortese

Can't see it happening, the lad turned down Spurs and Liverpool & Inter are also interested, but if this isn't a show of intent I really don't know what is.

€16m actually, so about £12.5m, still a lot of money of course. Apparently he rejected them due to the wages offered though, the bid was accepted.

Find it hard to believe we could beat Liverpool and Spurs, but would be a hell of a signing.

If he turned down Spurs' wage offering, it seems unlikely that we will offer more!

Agree up to a point but he'd be a big fish in a small pond with us. Would not be the case at Spurs. Sometimes it's not just about the money!

Lets hope not! But if he's been offered deals at Liverpool and Spurs and rejected them it may be because they are not in the Champions League, that is often a key point for top players and we can't offer that either (yet! ;)) Maybe Cortese will bring out 'the video' though...

His agent has been quoted as saying the only offer they had so far was from Spurs and that they barely offered him more than he is on at Bologna. No indication any champions league teams are in for him. So if we offer more, then maybe. I guess we will find out the real power of the DVD...

Just get something done as each day passes it's one less day for the time to gel together

Maybe so, but in all honesty, one or two new signings aren't going to have a massive impact on the result at City. I would love a signing or two this week, regardless of whether they play at City or not, but the main thing is that they have time to gel before Wigan at home next week.

Also, The Sun have (a more than likely false) rumour of us being interested in Cesena centre half Yohan Benalouane.

Wikipedia says: Yohan Benalouane (Arabic: يوهان بن علوان‎) (born March 28, 1987 in Bagnols-sur-Cèze) is a Tunisian–French football defender. He currently plays in Italy for A.C. Cesena.

Benalouane was included in the Tunisian squad for the first time in August 2010 to face Chad in an African Cup of Nations qualifier,[1] but missed the game because he failed vaccination prior the travel to Chad. He took the chance to refuse to rejoin the Tunisian squad. FIFA made it clear the he can not join France anymore and that he has to rally Tunisia against Togo in October 2010 which he did not so now he lost privilege to join either national team.[2]

After a particularly poor performance in a 2-0 loss against Bologna in December 2010, Benalouane was substituted. On leaving the pitch, and being jeered by Cesena supporters, he stormed past the bench and headed straight down the tunnel.[3] He later publicly apologised for his behaviour.[4]

Only 26 apps since 2010..

Yeah, this one came up yesterday. To be fair the Wiki article seems like its written by someone who doesn't like him.

Congratulations on being really selective and leaving his 60+ games for Saint Etienne out.
