Why does everyone think Pogrebnyak is a great signing? He's had one good run of form in his career and that was for Fulham, and most Fulham fans admit he was distinctly average after his first few games.

Think thats slightly harsh. Was very very good for Zenit when they reached the Europa League final and had every big club in Europe looking at him then, went completely off the boil when he moved to Germany though, and had a few good games for Fulham.

Agree that people are over rating him alot, but IF he can keep his form it would be a good signing

He was alright for Zenit but a lot of that was based off a very good supply line, mainly Arshavin.

Why are people getting worried about Reading anyway? It's not as if they're throwing around huge amounts of money. So far they've spent zilch in transfer fees.

Pogrebnyak isn´t on 65k a week. He´s on 35k. Guthrie won´t be any higher than 25k a week I reckon.

Where did you hear 35k?, all i've heard is 65k. That's why he joined Reading in the first place. I doubt if it was 35k he would be there as Fulham could easily match it.

Discounting the mail and the star <laugh>

Even his agent said he was moving to Reading for the money, so i doubt very much Fulham couldn't afford 35k.
His agent said Reading wage offer was so big he couldn't turn it down.

Ah it's okay, the Mail and the Star say so, so it must be right.

We had this discussion a while ago and I posted far more reliable sources saying it's over 30k, obviously, otherwise Fulham would have paid it. It was confirmed today the reason he chose Reading was a significantly higher wage... honest, at least.

There are many articles that say 65k and many that state it´s 30k a week. I find it hard to believe that Reading would offer such high wages so I´m sceptical....and just because his agent says money was the reason it doesn´t mean it´s 65k.

Makes sense though. Fulham would surely have paid £30k, and if he wanted more than that he could easily move abroad.

Pogrebnyak is a good player. Proven that he can score at Premier League level.

It is less of a gamble than us signing Rodriguez.
