We will sign atleast one premier league experienced 30+ year old player. Probably in CB although a string pulling CM would be good too.
Those thinking we'll stay up with a team of mostly 22-26 year olds (plus lambert) who have mostly never played premier league football need to realise its extremely unlikely.
Yes you need the youth (Rodriguez, Ince, Jarvis, Lallana, Cork, Schneiderlin etc), but you also need a couple of experienced hands (feet) who have done it all before to act as the core spine of the team (the Upsons, Duffs, Murphys, Scholes, Delaps, Etheringtons). Infact, Scholes was brought out of retirement for EXACTLY that reason.
Its a romantic idea thinking that we are somehow above signing anyone 30+ and will do well with a team completely made up of of 22-26 year olds (the so called "Southampton Way") , but i challenge you to find one single premier league team who does.
Id like to see us sign Upson, or someone Upson-esque, and a Danny Murphy-esque CM to pull the strings and lead and organise the team. It staggers me that people are thinking we are above signing Seedorf...

Flamini would be a good should. Whether we could afford his wages is there to be seen..
Seedorf might be getting on, but he still has an awful lot of quality and experience to bring to the table. Some people seem to be linking top level experience with inflated egos, and while that may be true in some cases, they aren't all like that and a sweeping generalisation is silly. I don't know Seedorf personally, but he comes across well on TV and my impression is that he'd be a good person to have at the club. He woul certainly raise our profile on the continent and worldwide.
Hope they all work out as well.
