Have you considered he might not sign?

I know it looks like he will, but you can't say that there's a consensus when basically everyone is saying they don't know anything.

And to be honest, who even knows there is actually a deadline? That might just be rampant speculation. Only thing we know is the bid has been accepted, not that anything else has been agreed.

Well if we are going to say media is not a reliable source, then we may not have even had a bid accepted as neither club has commented.

Yes he may turn us down straightaway and not travel down - but I don't see that happening personally. Nor do these journalists.

If he had no interest, we would've been turned down days ago and the press would more than likely have found out. So clearly there is interest from Jay's camp. It was reported that his agent was in Southampton shortly after the bid was accepted, and that negotiations took place. Still no report of rejection at this point. I am confident that Cortese will do enough to get him to sign, and I think we have a lot going for us - as well as no other parties having had a bid accepted!

Nixon says there is a sound financial offer and Saints have negotiated on any potential sticking points of leaving the North-West and finding a home. (I have no idea how. Offered a house - accommodation?)

But if there is a deal to be done he will be in Southampton tomorrow judging on what is said.

Point taken though - but I suspect the lure of regular Premier League football and a far better financial offer will do it.

I'm generally against loan moves, unless there is an option to buy at the end of the loan or if circumstances mean that we miss out on targets and need to get someone in. This De Bruyne seems promising and with Chelsea's poor record of providing a pathway for youngsters through to the first team (?)... I wonder if despite his transfer in the last window and his singing of a 5 1/2 year contract maybe we could buy him if he performs well. Otherwise I would rather go for someone we could actually buy now

If we have the opportunity to get someone with the quality of de bruyne in, even if only for a year, we shouldn't hesitate. Could be a factor that ensures immediate survival.

De Bruyne is certainly talented; eight goals and fourteen assists with Racing Genk this past year. Sounds like a very nice loan addition.

Intelligent use of the loan market will help us get in quality that will be affordable and help us bridge the gap until our own talented youngsters are ready to make the step up to the first team.

have not seen the guy play, but a one year loan would be perfik. it may turn out to be the same as josh mcechrine(however you spell it) who i believe will not be returning to chelsea after his little stint at swansea.so we may be able to offer him a deal if he does well. its so hard for youngsters to break into big clubs when the chairman will be spending millions during the summer, and he may not be a part of a new managers plan

he seems to play on the left but is right footed, has excellent vision, good movement and likes drifting inside to lob the keeper into the top left corner- does this sound like another player I can think of?

Bolton got great results from Wilshere and then Sturridge. The important thing with the loans is that these players are squad additions as opposed to focal points. Otherwise as Bolton found out, if you don't replace them you can be left with a huge void.

I think the De Bruyne rumour is rubbish.

Chelsea are buying every single forward therefore he won't be part if their plans, so link him to a promoted team and throw it in the paper as an extra bit of gossip... <whistle>

I'm going to put my head on the line and guess he will sign on Friday. Let's see what happens :)
