*YAWN* What a heap of absolute rubbish, if it was The Times then yes I might take it seriously but it's the bloody West London Sport, I have never even heard of it. Firstly, Adkins is on a long contract therefore would cost a fortune to sack him, Secondly, if Cortese was going to sack him I would have thought he might have done it by now. Thirdly, what would the reason be for sacking? Nothing would be justified unless Adkins went off killing people.... Fourthly, there would be a massive backlash from the supporters and the country. Fifthly, it's a pathetic rumour by a pathetic paper.... I could go on and on!!

That radio interview gives the impression Adkins has received reassurances about his future so I'd have to say I don't see his sacking as particularly likely. There is logic to it though. Look at QPR, promotion gained by Warnock, sacked and replaced by a big name in Hughes. You could say the only mistake they made was waiting too long.

If Cortese is ambitious enough, he could perceive Adkins' job to have been done, and a big name manager would attract big name players which would be competitive in the premier league. I'm not saying I'd be happy with it, but I can see the reasoning.

Man U must really rate Powell to splash £4m on him. I'd be reluctant to rival that for a young lad when we have our own lads coming through. The 4 we've brought up to the first team must be pretty good.

No thanx, he would want stupidly high wages. Then be injured all the time or out playing with his horses.

Michael Owen. Oh how sad. At 18 he had the world at his feet, and now he has nowhere to hang his boots. Nice bloke, and had be been injury free he would have been lauded as one of the world's greatest strikers. But ... I would see it as a backward step to pick him up now.

Powell looks like a bargain.

Great Di Matteo rumour today. A star manager to attract players which goes directly against Cortese's vision of academy players in the 1st team. Newspaper must try harder
