From the Sun today, yet another player we're being linked to with no proof:

'Premier League-bound Southampton will make a £3million bid for Birmingham defender Curtis Davies, if they fail to win promotion.'

Here's a prediction - Saints will finish above Liverpool next season.

If they keep their level of form up, that will be easier than it should be. ;)

Because they're better than us?

Without dissecting every season, I'd say they are the poorest Liverpool team in... oh, well over 50 odd years. By their standards they have become mediocre.

Are they? You're only as good as your last game and our last game against them we won 2-0!!!

We'll find out next year.

Indeed we will. Should be good at Anfield. I wonder what kind of reception Rickie will get..? The Liverpool crowd remember their own, even if Rickie was only a youth team player when he was told he'd never make it as a footballer.

Shall we have a sweepstake on how many players we are linked with this summer? As a newly promoted club with deep pockets (how the media see us) we will be linked with everyone who isn't linked with the big four or five. I reckon one or two players per day between now and when the club make a statement that we've concluded our business. So that's what, 80 or so!? :smiley-finger007:

Couldn't find an interrobang Dan!?

Indeed. We may hold our breath when we take to the field against manure et al but we'll be expecting points in this unless Dalglish really turns a corner.

Yeovil want Shaw and Sinclair on loan.

Various clubs looking at Bart. Am I right in thinking his contract is up?

Man U looking at Morgan

Saints among others interested in Ben Marshall of Leicester

Off football rumours. Just something to talk about.

#1 - Believable
#2 - Believable and Correct
#3 - Really?! Good talent but didn't think they'd notice him tbh.
#4 - Possible

Depending on how near there are to making the bench etc it might be a good thing for their development.

Are you sure?! <laugh>

Manu can **** off, Morgan is going to be absolutely quality in the Prem next year and I believe he will be the player that makes us tick.

Haven't really seen much of him so can't comment <ok>

I saw this today as well. in the last two days the Sun has us buying Mark Davies for £2 million and now Curtis Davies for £3 million

Wonder if tommorrow it will be Kevin Davies then simon davies etc etc

above signings are fine tho

Morgan has a lot of admirers. Doubt anyone would pay up, but it sounded plausible that they might be looking at him. He's very likely to play for France at the Olympics too.

Hope the Nick Powell rumours are true, I read that United and one other top six club are interested but hopefully he'd see Saints as a more feasible option for game time. The lad is quality, the thought of him and Ward-Prowse in the middle for us in 3 years time makes me excited.

My two pennies on other rumours mentioned recently:

Curtis Davies: Hope to God this is untrue
Dirk Kuyt: Same as above, laughable player
Simon Cox: Average, wouldn't improve on what we have already
Matt Phillips: Would be a good addition, clearly got a bright future
Thomas Ince: No no no, can't stand him and think he's horribly overrated
Nathaniel Clyne: He's okay, don't think he's really improving on his promise from a few years back and doubt if he'd cut it in the Prem

Can see Saints pulling something right out of leftfield though, like Tadanari in January. Wouldn't be surprised if we saw another Japanese or Korean lad come in (Honda is wishful thinking!)

If you listen closely, you can hear Joe Steinberg's sobs of joy

<laugh> I would love this to be true. The lad will definitely play for England.

That reminds me of the old 606 when SB3 (or whatever he was called then) used to say we were going to buy the North Korean striker Jong Tae-Se, followed by comparisons between Southampton and Pyongyang, etc etc. Then some bright spark would say that Pompey were getting taken over by Kim Jong-Il.

It's like watching Le Tiss. Also someone in the comments section of that video mentioned a £1m bid by Saints.

we can't have a midfielder shooting from that far out. It's not allowed.

His stats suggest he is indeed a little gem. I look forward to seeing him play in red & white, providing we are seriously interested. If we are - no doubt he will sign.

If we are interested in Powell, and the £1 mil fee is in the right sort of ball park, then whether or not he signs for us will break down to 2 things. Firstly whether he is the type of person who wants to play regularly early in his career for his club, or if hes happy going to a bigger team and being loaned out for a few years, and his advisers who will probably have a big influence on where he goes.

If we do get a £1 mil bid accepted, then I'm sure there will be some other bigger sides looking at him too.

We will offer him great wages - not insane but superb for his age - a supportive and passionate fanbase, superb facilities, a great atmosphere and feel about the place due to successive promotions, and importantly, lots of football.
