Assuming that we do go up..........I hope we continue with the surprise signings. I would like to see anyone on the way up in the game rather than someone on the way down (e.g. Upson for one).

Saints have a fantastic team spirit right now which started in League 1 and has developed in the Championship. I hope we don't get over ambitious and break up this squad. That said we may need some experience of playing in the Premier League. Am I right in saying that only Davies and Fox have done so?

Lawrie Macneverdefend was the master at bringing in the surprise player.

Lawrie Mac brought in some very experienced players too. We want to move towards building a team that plays how we want it to, which probably does mean bringing in the odd old-timer to share their experience. The last thing we want to do is overhaul the squad and rush in the new signings. Our best chance of picking up points would be early in the season when teams don't know what we're about, so we need to make the most of that.

Just asked Fourth_Official if we'll sign Hooper, this was the reply:

@JordiMurray07 if promoted very good chance

Interesting.

In totally non-saints news, he reckons RVP to City will happen.

The bastion of outstanding journalism 'The People' are linking us to Zat Knight of Bolton on a free...experienced, but never been too impressed with him.

I think he's one of the more reliable twitter rumour-mongers to be fair. Obviously they're not going to be 100% accurate because they're reporting on things before they're concluded, and often they don't end up being concluded.

He did after all back us to win the league, who on here thought that would be possible before the season started?

Fair play to him for that then I personally would love Hooper here!

The Sun reports today were going back in for Jay Rod.

Not a rumour, but I'd like to see how much Julio gomez would cost, plays down either flank or off the striker. Probably our of our range though.

Would be a good signing if true, just the kind of player we're looking for. Encouraging to know we're already making enquiries for players too.

Don't think we will be signing anyone for awhile, players and staff deserve a nice long holiday (probably until after the Euro's) so I don't expect much activity before then.
