Interesting... I don't think anyone else has brought this up yet, hadn't heard anyone saying only two senior CBs was a weakness and I definitely don't think anybody had suggested we need to bring in one or maybe even two, what made you think of this??

Hopefully this is the kick up the backside Cortese and co need to put some serious money on the table. All part of Nigel's plan I'm sure!

Nige said in his interview, while denying the illegal approach, that they've spoken to the chairman and Holloway himself.

 

At the end of last season, I've thought that the left two of the defence can do a job in the Premiership, but the two on the right can be improved. We've got Clyne in at RB and I think we need a partner for Hooiveld. Both Hooiveld and Fonte are good players but I don't think the partnership worked that well.

 

Sounds promising, been at work all evening so have no idea what's going on. Hopefully we can get him.

Different to see Adkins discussing the player so freely, normally he doesn't like to name names, or talk about certain players. I know it's slightly different with this tapping up claim, but even so, a slightly more open Adkins.

 

Maybe a deal is close? Bit wishful thinking I know ...

 

I am pretty confident that things have been happening in the background - and indeed Matt Phillips would appear to be one of these. But with every spare reporter and writer being shipped out to cover a particular Olympic sport, the football transfer talk has substantially died down, presumably therefore allowing the clubs to do things behind closed doors.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if we signed someone in the next couple of days, seemingly completely out of the blue (note though, I'm not saying that I'm expecting this, just simply that I wouldn't be surprised).

 

If its not a CB I will be a bit weary come Sunday...

I'd get tired watching Aguero destroy Fonte every 30 seconds too.

 

I just think he was very disappointed by Holloway's claims and was desperate enough to deny them that he went for the honest "yeah we are interested, no we didn't tap him up" rather than lying with "uhhhhhhh nope not us!"
