When I got up this morning, midnight for UK, I saw an article saying that SW attended a Union Berlin game and was negotiating to buy Leistner. I believe we had a 3.5m euro bid rejected earlier. Was pictured with his agent according to Berlin Sports.
A lot of money for him (compared to other signings for us this window) Another tall, strong CB. Not overly exciting. Hopefully an upgrade on Franke's start.

I can understanding have an agreement that you want a player playing and that after a few months if they don't get game time they can be recalled, but having to play double wages if they don't play :S

Saturating the squad with bang average foreigners doesn't seem to be working.
I would sooner spend the money on English lower league players.

If we sell Nelson to Wolves for £8m then go sniffing around Heidenheim for a 26 year old tall German everage Lg2 striker we may as well just get the white flags out for this season.

Sell Basil make some more money and then buy a cheap substitute. Anybody else thinking we are in for yet another disappointing season? I know, it's too early to make judgments but the two home matches have given us an early indication of things to come.

For me, the jury's still out, DF speaks well and appears to know how to correct the problems, let's not give the team even more problems by getting on their backs after two games of a 46 game season.

We're already better off than Newcastle were at this stage of last season!

As I've said CS - IF we sell Basil to 'boost the coffers' and buy a cheap replacement, then I'll be even more selective as to which games I bother to attend.

Have half of you forgotten the call for patience? You have to give the system time, we are playing a new system and integrating a lot of new players. Yes of course to lose 3-1 at home is extremely disappointing, but we dominated possession, we had several very good chances that should have been put away and hopefully the defence will tighten up in coming weeks.

Completely sensible. Way too early to start making comments about "tippy tappy" and lower league Germans. Building a new and refreshed team and a new way of working within a completely changed management structure is going to take time and patience is going to be required, did everyone REALLY expect instant success? I think df will have learnt far more about the team from the first couple of competitive games then he did from the whole of pre- season. He seems to be intelligent enough to work stuff out and find solutions but it's not going to be an instant fix. Loads of work needed but I'm still optimistic for the longer term and in my opinion better to try new things and look for different outcomes than bash away year after year with the same old structure hoping for a lucky break.
