Some of your last few posts have been a tad 'overly aggressive' imo, that's all. Christ, we're all still coming to terms with the implications of today's news,
Opinions may / will vary, but to tell 1950 "You are like part of the Norwich board" was a shade unnecessary. He made a valid point, as it happens. <ok>
And that is aggressive?

To say "part of the Norwich board" is an out of order insult. Compared to what gets said on here usually. I can't believe you are saying that to me with a straight face. The abuse sometimes on here, and you said I'm out order for that light joke?!

You hit the nail on the head when you refer to their Premiership wages. As I have said many times, to offload players who are under contract you have to have a Club who are prepared to pay us a fee and who will match their wages. Wednesday were interested in Turner but not his wages. Watford were interested in Bassong but not his wages. Nowadays a lot of players are prepared to sit out their contracts especially when they are are approaching the end of their careers and whilst I might be wrong I suspect that we were victims of this.
Apparently not. Apparently I'm being aggressive. Not allowed to post opinions anymore.

Thanks for your support Cromer but at 72 years old and the many years on here and the old 606 it is water off a ducks back!

And despite the 'relegation clauses' which obviously reduced their wages pro rata for life in a lower division, they were clearly still earning more here despite not playing than they could expect elsewhere. Why would anyone move in those circumstances?
Nobody on that list of 7 will be sorely missed, based especially on the last two seasons they had here.
Cruel to the steadfast (but below par) servants - to be kind, long term to NCFC <ok>

Having just come in on this discussion, I'm not surprised by the departures other than Ruddy and Bennett. Yes, I can see that Ruddy's wages could be the issue and if Rudd comes back to replace him that seems a logical adjustment to life in the Championship. Bennett has had an uneven season to be sure and we do have an excess of right-sided CBs with no left-sided CB if Bassong leaves. Klose can play on the left side, but he is naturally right-footed so it isn't ideal. If Klose leaves, we will need at least 3 CBs. I'm pleased that Toffolo is staying on. Having started 21 games for Scunthorpe, he will return with some additional experience and provide back-up for Dijks or his replacement as well as possibly another LB.

GK Rudd, McGovern, Jones (or Matthews?)
RB Pinto, Martin, Godfrey
CB Klose (or his replacement), Martin
CB 2 left-sided CBs, Efete
LB Dijks (if he stays), New LB, Toffolo
CM Howson, Dorrans, McGrandles, Adams
DM Tettey, New DM?, Thompson
WR Jacob, Naismith, Jaiyesimi
AM Hoolahan, Pritchard, Maddison
WL Wildschut, (Hoolahan), Josh
S Oliveira, Jerome, New Striker, Morris

On that basis, we'll need to sign 2-3 CBs, 1-2 LBs, 1 DM and 1 striker plus replacements for any others leaving.

I think you're spot on actually 1950!! <applause>

Returning to a minor point I mentioned earlier - Tony Andreau. He scores for fun in Scotland and is presumably still under contract here. The last I heard from an ex-player of ours a couple of years ago was that he shone at Colney but the staff were struggling to get him match fit for the game South of the Border. Another loan move North or a belated chance here?

He is not on the released list, but SW will probably know very little about him. But what position would he play if retained? He seems to be an AM, and has scored a shed load for Dundee this season, but would/will there be room for him with us?

Naismith could go on a free to save wages? Seems like another waste of money. I don't think he has been particularly interested in playing for NCFC, just there to earn his reported £50K per week. How the Board can write off £8.5m after, what, 15 months seems strange. I think we will end up with a greatly reduced playing squad and perhaps not so many non-Championship games?

Do I suspect another case of here we go again? We might give him a free transfer but who will both want him and be prepared to pay him £50k a week? He will be 31 in Sept and on £50k a week he might just be happy to sit on his contract and see out his time here and nobody could blame him for doing that.

Really good post 1950 and I guess it's a distinct possibility. As has been said previously an interesting close season.
