Personally I am very happy with what is going on at Norwich. Actually buying young players in positions we need to invest in!!! As it stands (and if Murphy gets sold) this could be our starting line up (probably not but one can hope)... Gunn Pinto (when fit) Zimmermann Franke Husband Reed Watkins Vranic Maddison Pritchard Oliviera With these players who could also step in: Martin Klose Lewis Toffolo Godfrey Tettey Wes Naismith Jerome Josh Murphy Jacob (if he stays) Iv probably missed some but it's looking a pretty decent squad... especially if players like Maddison are given a shot to impress! Think we need another CM more in the Howson mould and possibly a young raw striker (maybe the lad Xavier who played the other day?) To really have a complete squad. I know there are question marks over the two German CBs but lets face it, Germans are normally pretty good at defending!
If we didnt have a relegation clause in place for Naisy I would force him to play every single game until he puts a transfer request in.
Are either Zimmerman or Franke left sided CB's? Klose was reportedly better at RCB but forced to play LCB because we didn't have anyone better than Martin
Unfortunately all of our CBs are right-footed, Suffolk. Both Klose and Franke are comfortable on the left as well, but it's not ideal.
Yes, this. Klose does play well in the LCB role though. I'm sure if the other 2 are as decent on the ball as stated in articles, I'm sure they can adapt like Klose..
So, it's £10m up front with £2m add ons. Hope that there is a very beneficial sell on clause included. I can see him going to a top club for £25m at least within 2 years
Newcastle United blog, possibly not the most reliable source. Benitiz wants the deal finalised today so he can join them on a training camp in.....Ireland.
I do believe he's now back off holiday, but I've a feeling SW is in the same mould as McNally - so we'll see!!
I will hate to see Jacob leave but I always thought Josh was the better of the 2 . If we get £10m and reinvest that then that would be quite good business. We should hold out for £12m before the window shuts .
In the window when Robbie Brady was in great demand, the club put such a high valuation on him to deter suitors, and it worked. I imagine they've tried to do likewise this time with the (unwanted) Murphy interest but I don't imagine they can afford to turn down a good offer as there's nothing in the kitty to fall back on this time. Question is, how good is a 'good' offer? £10m plus add-ons probably equates to £12m, but is that enough?
If he moves to Newcastle and has a good season and an England call up he will be worth 3 times that. If he stays and has an average season then he won't be worth anywhere near £10m . His stock is quite high after the U21 heroics.
If he moves to Newcastle and plays like he did last season he won't get much game time and his value will go down. I think 10m represents his potential rather than his current level.
Pritchard was stretchered off and came out of the medical room on crutches after the game apparently. Not good! At least we have Wes and Maddison in that area, but potentially long-term injuries aren't what you want from pre-season games!
Always a danger when playing lower league teams, no intent to injure just not really good enough to time their tackles!
