Mmm....I see striker Jake Jervis from Ross county has joined us. Don't know much about him but only scored 4 goals last season, if teams up with the squad then who knows. Welcome to HP!
We don't need strikers (unless somebody is off), we don't need defenders (we've now got one of each), we need midfield players because we don't F****** have more than one left. Doh!!!!!!!
Oh come on Joe keep up, of course he was free. Do we do anything else? In fairness though hardly anyone in this league actually buys a player so we are no different there.
His record in League 2 is 9 goals in 38 games but that doesn't say how many of those were starts and how many substituite appearances. We shall see but strikers are as good or as bad as the service they get. I'm with Sensible - we need to stregthen in midfield, centrally and in the wide positions.
I know, I keep waiting for somebody to join who we actually need and all this waiting is nerve jangling because all we get is what we don't need. Nothing against either signing who may prove to be brilliant, never condemn till you see in anger is my motto, but we are desperate in the middle of the park.
and another with Tyler Harvey resigned. That is my predicted 2 for the week although I suspect there will be one or two more before next Monday.
cant keep up-Gregg Wylde (wee nuggett) also signed. Looks like he had a very promising early career with Rangers and then went off the boil following a move south of the border. Lightening quick and a winger-the new Thomas perhaps? Looks like DA certainly has a 'plan'.
That's 2 out of 3 new ones from Jockland. Bit of a theme going on here as Joe was speculating on previously. The last time we went mad over the border most of them were total pants. Fingers crossed then. As for Tyler I don't think the boy had that much of an option elsewhere so him signing is little surprise. I would like to see him given a go and in his proper position. Banton signed for Wycombe. Hope he doesn't come back to haunt us next season.
A 6ft 3 striker one day and a lightning quick Scottish winger the next. Get your 1970's clothing out of the back of the wardrobe.... Still, if it wins enough games to get us promoted, who cares? Here we all are for the Portsmouth game. Note that the Bob Marley theme has been taken up by two out of three fans.
A lot of you may have seen this but it does give an idea of the wage aspirations of players in League 2, cortesy of the BBC.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33377942
Another Ross County signing.....Graham Carey 26yrs old......attacking mid-fielder......Irish lad who went to Celtic as a youngster....played at various clubs including St Mirren and Huddersfield for awhile, one year contract.
Nervous now with all the signing from over the border. At least this one is in a position we need to fill. I don't think average wages in this league are anywhere near £1500 a week. I doubt they are anywhere near a grand either. There are some clubs who attract less than a couple of thousand people at some home games, They would need to be charging £50 a ticket if they paid that. I would reckon on around £750 being normal and a grand being higher earners.
I don't profess to know but presumably it'd not entirely made up... I assume the players in question are the ones they didn't sign remember but it's indicative of the way agents influence the transfer market. The pattern does fit with what Martin Starnes told me (NB when I met him on a one-and-only occasion outside the club), which was that they'd been trying to sign a un-named teenage player released by an un-named higher league club, who was also asking for stupid money under the circumstances. The signing didn't happen.
well i hear there are more of our Scottish friends arriving soon!! Hope fully they prove to be good enough in this league.. I did say we would have an influx a while ago.. as i doubt the manager has any contacts this side of the border.. so cheap jocks.. hope fully they will be worth it and its better than nothing i suppose.. time will tell at least he knows them..
His deputy knows the English leagues though so we aren't entirely reliant on jockenees players. If they can play though, and previous history wasn't great on that score, then I don't care where they come from. As you say Joe, time will tell.
