To be competitive next season in League 1, we need: Decent backup keeper Central defender Backup Full back Creative midfielder Winger At least 2 strikers If I was MA, I would go for Jack Redshaw from Morecambe and Cody Mac up front with Kedders/Weston/Birch as backup, plus I also liked the look of Alfie Potter from Oxford for the wing.
Well its certainly good to be talking about this with promotion actually confirmed. I agree with consensus here that Payne and Montrose won't come back and that Frampton and Birchall will be released. I would like to keep Robinson and bring back McDonald (if the price is right) and Flanagan who would provide good cover alongside Davies at the back. But most importantly we need to learn from our last 2 promotions from this level. Last time under Stimson we made very few changes with (I think we added Gowling, Palmer and Maher to the previous seasons squad) under Pulis in 1996 we bought in about 6 players (some on loan) but these included Hessentahler and Butters and not long into the season we acquired Akinbiyi (initially on Loan) and this is sort of quality we should be looking to add during this close season in my opinion.
