Linked with Bradley Wright-Phillips(although this appears to be ruse), also linked with Linganzi from Venky Rovers was on loan to us a couple of seasons back
Was that a bad dream, Maclad? I can't see any reference to Vardy anywhere. I think SG is content to work with what he has got for the moment.
In anticipation of NE's big push for back to back promotion to the Premierships, who do you think SG will jettison in the Summer? I think the core of the team will stay as GW, for all his faults, did bring in some decent players for this level. The trouble that surrounds NE is that in the championnship, there is never the investment in the team to bring in Premiership players. A few have made into the Premiership, but not to any of the big teams which demonstrates the quality NE can only attract. If NE is to do well and move above being a club from which managers move on from then TH will have to digg deep into his pockets. Should NE reach the Premiership, then I think there will be sell out crowds every week not the teen thousands that some Premierships clubs get.
Will be an interesting summer, get to the 50 point mark which would be safety(almost) he will probably start evaluating the squad, 4 or 5 will go, shed load out of contract though.
If he does, that will be a positive start. According to reports, he has played well and no gaffs to date. It looks like it is curtains for the German unless he wants to remain as number two. At this level he is competent. Hayhurst and Beavon should stay. What about getting the Canadian back? Can't remember his name? Really need a play maker like Mckenna or Spavin or O;neil. GW had most of the players on one year contracts. Maybe that was fore thought?
It's April 1st today and the rumours are as follows, the return of Eddie Johnson from the States(Personally think a bag of Ribble cement would be more mobile), Stuckmann to Crewe, Cummings to Peterborough and Moushino to either Fleetwood or Bury.
You're having a laugh! Eddie Johnson...don't remember him. Therre was an interesting debate the other night on BBC5Live, 'Glen Hoddle's top 10 number 10s'...Zidane, Puskas(?spelling), et cetera. Hoddle did say that in the English game, our managers were slow to pick up on the idea of the 'quarterback', the bloke with the skill who ran the show. Well, Hoddle obviously did not know of Mr. MIlne, ex-PNE manager and the best we have had since dropping to Div.2. He played Spavin like a quarterback. Of course, Spavin was not of the class of the greats, but he ran NE on the field and very nearly got NE into Div.1 AND win the FA Cup. If only Wilson had not missed that shot and Davidson had not been a plonker feigning bereavement to miss the last game before the final. NE now need someone with that ability instead of the muscular harum-scarum of modern midfielders. Spavin's problem was he was a bit slow but I would exchange a slow Spavin for any of our present midfielders.
