What makes you think that Siggy hasn't got what it takes to be captain. I think he'd do a good job although, I think he comes across as a bit too reserved to give the team a kick up the arse when we're up against it. You can see that Siggy is well liked and respected by everyone at the club. Although he does moan a lot apparently.
Well liked , well respected and would lead by example with his work rate ...where he plays means little IMO
All our big earners being shipped out Siggy and Ayew next. Now no strikers and our most experienced defender and captain needing replacing. Now I am starting to worry.
I don't think Ash will flop at any club he goes to. Although, if he does flop he'll still have a tidy contact that Everton will have to pay. I can't see him switching without signing at least a 3 year contract.
Link: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/aug/01/everton-ashley-williams-swansea-10m-deal? I don't think my contact was wrong, I'm afraid this is looking like it has some legs, the Guardian are now reporting this story, big shame to offload our Captain and leader for just £10 Million, even if he is 31..............
I already said I think that he may not be the best candidate for captain and give you my reason. I'm not a mind reader you do need to elaborate on your statements sometimes.
It does make a difference where you play. just look at all the great captains there have been and you will see that defenders make up the most favoured position...Of course you can have anyone as captain but someone in defence is the preferred position by most managers
Blunderer Stones = £50 million International Captain, Club Captain, Defence Organiser, Guaranteed 38 games per season Williams = £10 million It's a ******g joke.
Fully agree. Not to mention, consistently one of the top 6 CB in the PL the past 5 seasons. Lovren went for £25 million ffs
As they say in the movie ,I'm going to " Embrace the Horror " . A seemingly impossible venture to try to stay in the Premier , you know ....like our first season and what a rush that turned out to be . I have more confidence in Guidolin and Curtis than they probably do and if things don't work out we will retain a " Team " that will probably stay together and the egos will mostly be gone . But , I still think we have the staff to get players to keep us out of the bottom 3 and fans that will support their effort .
Well if he does go, I hope we sign somebody like Bruno Martins Indi from Porto. Very similar to Ash, but will probably cost £10-£15 million so no chance of that happening.
I think so too PGF, we are cutting the wage bill big time, this has to be the Yanks, this they have done before, and they never communicate with the fans either, £10 Million is a steel, only Huw could be this stupid..............
Unfortunately Ash is the wrong side of 30 for us to be able to command a sizable fee. Although I think he's worth more than 10M
At this stage last season Ash had had his medical and was an Arsenal player........Lets wait and see what the real truth is......
What ever happens will happen . Under these severe conditions we are thrusting on our manager , I'm glad its with a very expierenced manager . Now I'm not under the illusion that the microscopes and knives will not be out for Guidolin early , but most will overlook the sh:t he was thrown into ....I won't be one of them . Guido and Curtis all the way .
The issues of January are nothing compared to the situation atm. No captain, no strikers and we're only 11 days from the new season.
