With Haidara and Gamez out of contract and off the books soon, looks like another chunk of salary will be freed up in the near future https://www.themag.co.uk/2018/05/fi...t-negotiations-near-end-hln-report-matz-sels/
Happy to take a hit on transfer fees to save money on salaries and free up space for others who will be pushing for game time.
Exactly this - transfer fees are one thing, but wages often seem to be the deciding factor so need some room to manoeuvre
Even loaning players and subsidising their wages makes some difference which is something I'd rather us do than have a player who is surplus to requirements playing for the u23's for 30-50k a week.
I like Woodman as 3rd choice with Dubravka competing for 1st choice. I don't want too many comfortable players.
Just read that nobody is going to do anything on transfers until Rafa decides on his future. An already shortened window with a World Cup just got a whole lot shorter thanks to the “exec board”.
The issue is a similar quality player to Dubravska will cost more than what we could get for Darlow and Elliot combined and bearing in mind we have enough outfield players we need to get a competitive GK is not a priority.
Exactly this for me - think with Dubravka in place and keep Elliott and Woodman, we're adequately covered. Priorities are in other places for me
It sounds as though he wants to leave for the same reason he joined, for first team football which is a shame as he is quite a well rounded midfielder.
