No, it's true. I don't remember much else.

Hard to believe, I know, because I'm usually good at remembering stuff.

I make you right the_jiggler re Edgar St

The SAS were not the high profile they are now. Think it was the Iranian Embassy siege in May 80 that brought their existence to the attention of the wider public. Got back on the coach that afternoon to find my Breakaway had become liquid and no longer existed as a chocolate bar and then I scalded my mouth with a can of red hot Lilt. Crazy times.

Remember seeing some kid in an Eddie and the Hot Rods t shirt at the services on the way back. Forget the 'Waddy and Brotherhood of Man, there was summat happening at last music-wise.

    Season ended thus:-

Mad season from start to finish.

The joke may not have impacted but at least he had an excellent opportunity to observe it.

Hereford away was a top day out. Blazing hot weather but not so warm on the way home. A stop off in Lichfield resulted in the loss of a few coach windows.

    Happy days

The Birmingham Sports Bugle or whatever that night had a front page article entitled MOTORWAY MADNESS about trouble at services between City and Taunton Reds or some such outfit.

George Lyall has his career ended by Big Sam. Reid giving Bremner the runaround .
BWFC very good but very dirty side.
Fans usually on the front foot.

Much ado about nothing tbh... most of the "reds" ran off down the hard shoulder and then across three lanes of the motorway to get away.

Standpipes where we lived, bloody ladybirds everywhere and my dad had a mkII Ford Escort with black plastic seats that burnt our legs and left an indelible pattern on them when we peeled ourselves off.

Round about the same time period (Slapshot was 77). The guy front row extreme left looks like one of the Hansons. In addition to football, he was/is very good at Five Pin Bowling and two time Canadian champion. That said, I couldn't stand him!

Met the missus to be at an apres-ski party that summer. You may ask, it was an Irish mate of mine who held the party. Captain of the team I played for, wonderful footballer - Liam Brady like. Had a great sense of humour. Ski party in bloody August - and he didn't mean water skiing.
Problem was, I was after my future wife's very hot girlfriend that night. Smooth talking Irishman's blarney beat me to it !
Never forgave the bastard for that. Nor the future missus for being there. She didn't even ski !
    C'est la vie.
