SUMMER NEWS 2018

Up to now all of the incoming look promising despite the fact they could be the star attraction in a Casualty episode. Whoever we end up with I will of course reserve judgement until I've seen them kick a ball in anger. But as said it looks promising.

 

INCOMING

Calum Dyson 21 year old 6ft 1in striker from Everton.

 

Been a busy few days , especially given I was in Portugal at the EFL Conference and DA was on his hols - not that he ever really has one. Interesting that it would never have been possible a few years ago, but today, everything can be done wherever in the world the key players happen to be physically located- how did they manage before internet & e-mail?

 

Well we've signed up 5 new players so far....all with something to prove to be first choices.

So what's next ?......certainly a first choice goalkeeper.....Sawyer hasn't yet signed up...so one maybe two left backs.....also Fox hasn't yet put pen to paper, if he goes then we would need a serious replacement....another central defender if not two....we cannot be sure how long Ryan Edwards needs to get back to full match fitness......not knowing the answer there.... a second central defender is needed.

Derek Adams had mentioned a possible 9/10 new players needed....so we're halfway at present.

Another signing that again looks quite promising. I might have to go to a pre season game for a change just to have a look. Gonna take me another season to get used to names and who is who and then I guess it will be all change yet again.

 

That's nothing sensible...the draw for the first round of the Carabao Cup later this week is in......wait for it .....is in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

Last year the draw was held in Bangkok and Beijing.

 

Yes Portugal is a bit controversial, but it is predominantly the owners conference (who are spread worldwide) and I think the justification is that more of the 72 are likely to attend if it is somewhere warm and sunny. A couple of years ago it was also found to be cheaper to hold it abroad than in the UK.....As it happens the weather was pretty poor for the time of year, and we were inside most of the two days anyway.

 

I should think so it wasn't a bleddy jolly was it it was supposed to be work................

Oh misread that, saw what I expected to see as I know someone else who's been on some football thing and I felt sure it was Barcelona. Obviously not.

Harry Hodges has signed his first professional contract....Hodges....I've heard that name somewhere......

 

Sonny Bradley has signed a 3 year deal with Luton......

 

There is talk of Jason Holt 5ft 6in, 26yr old, mid-fielder of Rangers coming south to Argyle....sounds interesting, It sounds as if Gerrard might be releasing him from their continental training camp because he is surplus to requirements for the coming season....there might be a fee required.
Played 108 games for Rangers and scored 14 goals.

 

Ryan Brunt could be a target for Truro City this summer.

 

Best of luck to Bradley and I suppose a 3 year deal was a lot longer than he would have got here. Sorry to see him go but hey-ho, as said before nobody is bigger than the club so move on and upwards hopefully. I have a sneaking feeling he was considered excess anyway by "the management".
